Set the Crop Mask Opacity to 100 and the Brightness to 14.
The Thumbnails show the whole image but also show the mask. The settings above make the mask the same color as the default background and then all you see are the copped part of the image.

Thanks for the suggestion. This does indeed only show the cropped part in thumbnail view (although at a smaller size, as the uncropped part is still in the thumbnail, but at the same color as the background). It's not an elegant solution for the cropping process though, as it's not possible to see what's outside the crop area in the Viewer during cropping.

For rotated images this does not work, the thumbnail still shows the original edges of the image at an angle, with a square black area filling out the surroundings of the thumbnail.

What would be needed (for me) is a setting which allows the thumbnails to show the same image as the viewer would show, there's really no need for the thumbnail to reveal more information than the Viewer does!

    Regards,
    Andreas

    Andreas,
We'd love to see that suggestion in a support case.

I wouldn't want that to be the default. I like being able to see from the thumbnail that the image has been cropped.

Then it should at least be consistent, I think. Images that are rotated, and hence automatically cropped in the Viewer to show a straight square image (I assume the largest fitting square with the same aspect ratio as the original) do not show the crop margin in the preview, but rather fill the image outside the rotated border with black so that it's square and straight (difficult to explain, but easily seen..).

I personally would prefer a badge showing that the image is cropped over crop margins in the previews, as I have no need to see the cropped areas in the previews. I (personally, again) prefer that the previews are respresenative of the image as it will look after processing, so that I can output directly from the browser if necessary.

When (if....) I buy a license I might provide a support tickets as suggested. Not sure I'm buying yet, though (on trial) 😊

That does not stop you raising a support ticket ...
