Sharpening Not being applied!
Help, I only have the trial version and am very impressed untill i open the image in another program. It seems as though the sharpening isn't being carried over to the new image after it's been processed. I made sure I don't have the box checked regarding sharpening on output. I did a search on the forum and FAQ and found one person with same problem but her solution was to change jpg to jpeg and i tried that but still didn't work.

Aceman215,
At the Preferences > Miscellaneous tab is the ability to set a Default Sharpening.
Once set, the preference sharpening settings will display at the Focus tab slider tool.
The Preference settings will be applied to all processed images from a Session if you Do Not Touch the Sharpening sliders at the Focus tab.
Once you adjust the sliders at the Focus tab, All Bets are off for that particular image. Either / Or is the Rule-of-Thumb here.
Preference settings perform the equal sharpening upon all images.
Sharpening at the Focus tab adjusts an individual image only, unless of course you apply the settings to other selected Thumbnails.
Another selection available in the Preferences > Process settings tab is to Disable Sharpening on output. You checkmark this when using another software for sharpening. Check again to be sure not set.
At the Focus tab it is best analyze the Focus View Display image and not the Preview image. The Preview will show sharpening adjustments, but is low in resolution for making critical decisions, even at full screen. The Focus View actually processes that portion of the RAW for display and analyses.
Amount - how much contrast between pixels
Threshold - the higher the # the LESS that is sharpened in the image
150 and 3 are good starting points, and then Test and Test.
In analyzing sharpening effects only, do not adjust Color Noise suppression sliders since these can have an affect upon sharpening.
The absolute best analyses with sharpening comes with printing.
If you are certain all settings and procedures are correct, the please create a Support Case and attach a RAW image file at:

Make sure that you look at your image at 100%, the smaller preview may look much sharper than the image really is. When you look at a reduced image it's hard to tell what algorithms were used to generate and sharpen it in each individual program

I too have the same problem - processing the image does not appear to apply the same level of sharpening to the output image. The level of sharpness shown in the preview window at 100% does not mach the processed image. I have tried all combinations of TIFF/JPEG etc and tried displaying the image in lots of viewers - if I remove focus correction from the Capture One preview window we have a match. This is a great bit of software but after spending several days looking at this I can't see a way forward. Any suggestions welcome - have tried all of the above. FYI the original image was created on a Nikon D50 - NEF (RAW) format. 0
