Importing Aperture Library
When doing an import is it better to start with all images in Aperture managed or referenced. Presumably a mixture would not be a good idea. Has anyone had any issues one way or the other?

I think that the end result of importing an Aperture library is the same no matter what kind of library it is. You will always get a referenced catalog in Capture One. My Aperture library was managed and I got a referenced catalog. You can turn the referenced catalog into a managed catalog by selecting the images in an album and dragging them to the catalog text/icon.
Please, someone correct me if I am wrong. 😊0 -
If you have them already referenced in Aperture, just leave them like that. Import will be much faster as no files have to be moved around and if you want you can still use Aperture with the same images.
I migrate in batches and exporting as library in Aperture using referenced images is of course also much faster and hardly needs extra disk space.0 -
Thanks for the response. I was worried about the duplication of original images on import. On a continuing basis another concern is the rather cumbersome task of ensuring consistence between the AP library and the CO catalogue. If an image is deleted in Aperture sent to AP Trash and the Trash then emptied with "Send to System Trash" checked the result seems likely to be that CO will be unable to find that image. Probably the safest procedure is to ensure that deletions in either application are done on the basis that the original image is left in its reference location. 0
