Capture One SE 3.6
I'm at a lost here. I'm told that SE will no longer be made. I don't mind that since I can get the new PRO version in the Spring for free.... but.... I feel I'm being screwed and have to use this buggy version until then. I feel like I'm being left out in the cold since no updates for SE will be made and I have to suffer with all the ills of 3.6 until Spring. Since we are promised the PRO version in Spring as our major update, It would seem to me only fair that we get the PRO version now at no cost since the PRO version will have updates made (this I am assuming). I feel like no one cares about us poor SE users until the major version change happens. I don't think it would hurt Phaseone at all to do this and maybe for public relations have some happy loyal customers. I don't see how economically this can hurt since after the Spring major upgrade we'll have to pay more for each upgrade in the PRO version. Anyways I'm not too happy being ignored till Spring.

Hi
We will until the next major version still continue to make maintaince versions of the Se software as well of the other versions. After the next major version, there will not be any maintaince versions made.
However - Phase One will still support the SE version both here, on our Knowledge Base and if you contact us directly.0 -

Thanks for the response.
I never once had a version of C1 that didn't have bugs in it or has poor video refresh rates. I would like for once to have a perfectly made C1 or a version that runs like the price we paid. Right now I'm using Digital Photo Professional because SE 3.6 is running like a 50.00 dollar software that we all over paid for. Give me a break!!!!! I think you guys made SE to trap us into getting PRO to kick us in the teeth for every so called upgrade. Sorry for being pissed but I feel really taken. You say you'll have maintenance versions coming but with all the bugs in 3.6 and previous versions it seems they don't come fast enough or well thought out.
Thanks,

Dear Larry,
I understand your fustration. Phase One is well aware that the Windows version is not as stable as we would want it to be. We are working hard on fixing the bugs and will release a more stable version this spring. I cannot promise you that all bugs will be 100% fixed in the next release, but we will fix as many as we possibly can. Obviously, since the remaining bugs are our responsibility we have not charged for any upgrades in over a year. This also means that new features and camera support have been free of charge as well.
Phase One has been in the professional photographic business for many years, and if our philosophy was to trap people in order to make a profit, I doubt that Phase One would survive.
The reason why we discoutinued SE was because we felt that maintaining 4 versions of the software was beginning to have a negative affect on our ability to innovate and ensure stability. It is never easy to discontinue a product, however, we tried to be fair by offing attractive upgrade prices and of course by providing the SE upgrades that people are entitle to and have already paid for along with a number of free upgrades.
We apologize for the inconvenience. We still believe that in the long run the choice we made on SE will be beneficial to our end users.
For further information about SE please refer to the sales related announcements at this forum.

Best regards,
Thank you for your thoughtful response. I do love the output of C1 and I have become fond of the looks I can produce with it so I will be a loyal user. It just gets frustrating at times manipulating the preview. I'm sure you'll have a fix soon.
Thanks so much,
