Are the Leica DNG files coming straight from the camera or has there been editing/converting by other software?

Yes, Paul, they are coming straight from the camera.
I'm very well aware that when importing images from e.g. Apple Aperture they look not very good. But my question refers to dng-files coming directly from the camera.

    Hi Christoph,

Important is that CO8 selects the proper camera profile in the Base Characteristics tool. This should be the Leica M9 Generic.

Thank you for the hint, Paul.

    1) When I select 'Import Images' from the 'File' Menu COP8 the previews look great.
    2) After clicking the button 'Import All' the images reddish!?
    3) I go to 'Tool Tab - Color'. In 'Base Characteristics' the 'ICC Profile' field shows 'DNG File Neutral'
    4) Then I select 'ICC Profile' = 'Leica M9 Generic' and the skin is not reddish anymore, but red!? (It's a pity that I can't attach a screenshot to post)

I'm lost. Thank you for you patience...

    Hi Christoph,

Thank you for the additional info. You setup is apparently not selection the right profile. I have heard this before, but I am unaware of a solution. In case you like to post a screenshot, you can paste a link to an image that is only somewhere in the text. Remember to use the IMG tag around the link (see Img button above posting window).

Creating a support case might also be a good idea.

Interested to hear if any solution comes along.

    Hello Paul,

Thanks to your help, I was able to solve the problem.
Coming from APPLE Aperture, I had an automatic AppleScript running which is adding the camera maker, lens maker, lens serial number and copyright to the exif-data of my photos. I removed the line camera maker in my script... and Capture One is now selecting the right profile and the images look good!

Thank you again for your support.

    Interesting.

As a Windows user I have nothing like Applescript to play with, as far as I know. I also have no significant problems with the way C1 functions on my system.

It makes me wonder whether for all Mac based diagnosis work for problems similar to the one discussed here the first step ought to be to check whether tools like Applescript have been used for any purpose and if so have the default recommended settings for the camera changed in some way? It is quite easy to miss this sort of basic first step check when attempting to diagnose a problem and head off down the wrong investigative path. (I write from experience!)

I am not suggesting this is always the problem nor that the user is "at fault" but a basic understanding that there may be an issue with external processes might prompt some early investigation about them and save a lot of the user's time for things that would take very little time to check. And saving time together with avoiding frustration is something we all aim for.

There may well be similar initial steps that should be taken when using Windows systems - I am not trying to make one appear inferior or superior to the other. Each have their own specific way of confusing us during what looks like "normal" operation.
