Freeze on images browsing
When I simply browse my images in the Browser and switch back and forth between images suddenly the viewer doesn't display and load the current image completely. It stays blurry and the spinning wheel above the viewer is running forever. From that moment on no image can be loaded properly again. Only a restart of C1 8.1.1.20 helps.
Using C1 with 4K NEC PA322 monitor and C1 image preview size set to max (2880 px) with a Mac Pro late 2013, 32GB RAM and referenced images residing on Thunderbolt 2 attached Promise Pegasus2 RAID.
Anyone experiences this too?
Thanks, Andy

I've seen that as well but only rarely... Perhaps a few times in the last few weeks? I wonder if it's related to our 4K displays...
I'll be honest, I have other more pressing issues running C1 on my 4K display (Dell P2715Q) attached to my 2013 Mac Pro (6-core, 32MB, D500s)... I'd be interested to know if you have any of these... When running native 4K (3840x2160) not scaled...
- poor performance... refresh rate on viewer image when adjusting sliders is very slow/laggy - no workaround other than resizing your C1 app window to be much smaller - a waste of a 4K screen
- OpenCL appears to have no impact on anything I do? Turning it to auto or off has no noticable effect despite having a pair of very high-end GPUs
- If your previews are set to 2880px and you resize your workspace such that the viewer is larger than 2880px, it no longer provides an accurate preview (most noticable with green tones for me)- resizing things so the viewer is smaller than 2880px seems to correct it
- sometimes C1 thinks my 5DIII images (5760px) are only 2880px making zoom to 100% almost identical to "fit" - a system restart cures this0 -
To be honest, I am just a newbie to C1 and can't speak with long experience, but ....
- Perfomance, yes, I find the performance slow and laggy in various situation on my system setup similar to yours (same powerful MAC) used with a 4K monitor.
Adjusting sliders yes, definitely one point of frustration. Masking even worse, when I draw a mask with the pen I don't get the feeling right, the mask is drawn far behind of actually moving my cursor/mouse over the image.
Then in the Library tool when I drag folders/albums and images e.g. between user collections in the library tool I have to wait seconds until the destination is ready to let drop the images/folders/albums onto it.
Loading an image preview in the viewer takes about 3-4 seconds average (sometimes 1 sec but sometimes even 5 secs) and for just loading a pre-generated preview file that's too slow for my taste. Especially that old Aperture is still tack fast here.
I wasn't really aware that resizing the workspace would help in that until I did some testing following your advice, and yes I found it helped on overall performance for the above. But definitely that's not a solution for our nice screens to work with a tiny C1 window and image display.
- OpenCL setting no impact at all here as well.
- If the viewer is set to larger than 2880px I also found suddenly previews to be displayed incorrectly. Also when i switch in the browser from a highres image (7360px) to an lower res image (3008) in 'fit to windows' view the smaller image is displayed very small in the viewer and not at all 'fits' the viewer.
- I choose my previews to be 2880px in C1 preferences but couldn't manage to regenerate for testing purposes to a smaller setting e.g. 2560px at all for multiple images (see other thread).
- All the above happens no matter if I use my monitor in OS X in scaled or native (3840x2160) view. I use my monitor mostly a bit scaled by OS X as else I cannot read the small fonts properly but the NEC monitor resolution is set to its native res (3840x2160 at 60HZ).
To be honest it's quite a bit frustrating after switching from Aperture (where those resolution and lagging problems are not existent at all to me) to C1. I hope this get's resolved soon by the C1 devs.0 -
It is most probably related to the 4K display. Contact support for help. 0 -
To be honest i am in the same situation with a little 1900x1200 pixels screen, so it is not the screen resolution.
I have a Mac Pro late 2013, 6 core, 32GB and D700 option. Data are on Promise Pegasus R6 12To in RAID5.
I have switch from Aperture and C1 is some time slow or laggy.
Any way it a good software, very good render engine when retouching pictures but with the power of the mac pro 2013 i hope C1 was more responsive.
Note : I have a case open for solve problem with OpenCL (C1 crash if the option is activated and if i use an other software that use openCL or openGL), but it is perhaps a problem that come form Apple's drivers.0 -
I also have a 4K display (LG 31")
Experiencing exactly the same thing. I'll generally have to go back a few images and then forward again in hopes C-1 decides to render the preview. That works for the most part... Still..

Good to hear we're not all alone! Misery loves company.
Please... everyone... file support tickets... ideally for each issue separately, so we can be heard!

Annoying.
... doesn't work for me. I never ever get back a clear image when hitting the issue the first time when browsing. Only a restart of C1 helps (a bit).0
