blending layers?

    There's no blending. You're confusing Capture One with Photoshop.

    Right i get that but I don't understand the significance or purpose of layers...why don't I make the adjustment on the primary image like I do with most of the tools? sorry if I'm being dense...

    When processing the final result, the layers are flattened (using the PS term). There are no further blending options for layers, only on and off.

    With layers you can have different masked areas with different adjustments for each layer. It's impossible to achieve the same results without them.

    You should watch Phase One's webinar on local adjustments (available on their YouTube channel). I'm quite certain it would help you fully understand the purpose of layers.
