    Hi Shawn,
Last February you had another startup error, and I was thinking in the same direction again: a corrupt Capture One.col file in the Capture One Library folder. Maybe you can try to move it to another location and start CO4.

    Hi Paul

Tried moving the col file but still got the same result.

I looked into it again and the fault happens if I set ICC file to effect and choose the black and white option. I can edit the file and produce image in jpg/tiff from it no problem. If I then close down the CO4 and restart thats when I get the failed to load error and the previously edited image reverts to colour.

    Cheers

    Hi Shawn,
I was able to reproduced your problem now based on your latest description. Of the six Effects filters, all three which start with B&W produce this error consistently. Assumably a bug. I will file this bug later this week with PO with some other bugs if you allow me 😄

    Hi Shawn,

Phase One followed up on my bug report with a workaround on the issue which will be fixed in an upcoming release.
Cause of the trouble is the "&" of B&W in the file name of the profile. The workaround therefore is to rename the profile's file name from "Phase One Effects - B&W.icm" into "Phase One Effects - B-W.icm" for example.

    The profiles are located in:
    C:\\Program Files\\Phase One\\Capture One 4\\Color Profiles\\Common

Note that after renaming both the new and old profile name appears in the Effects profiles list. Of course you have to select the new name.
