    hi laporte,

i have the exact same problem as you.
the sharpness of the jpeg output is much much lower than what i see on the Capture1 interface.

    Settings:
    Sharpening Amount: 300
    Radius: 1.1
    Threshold: 0
    Noise Reduction Luminance: 0
    Noise Reduction Color:0

I run C1pro on my Acer Aspire 5530G Laptop with ATI HD3470 256mb Graphics Card, Windows Vista Home Premium version. My monitor has not been colour calibrated, but i don't think that should affect the sharpness perception?

here are 2 of my screenshots.
    1. compares C1 with Picasa Picture Viewer
    2. compares C1 with Windows Vista Photo Gallery

anyone has any solution to this problem?

It basically boils down to the low quality viewer you use. To be a speedy viewer, the image is rendered fast, not bothering details. In addition, the XP Windows viewer is not color managed, so add another discrepancy.

Information of viewer on Mac is missing in the post but I find that Preview gives satisfactory results as is the QuickLook/Slideshow function of Finder (Leopard).

You have to ask yourself the question: do I want a (quick) preview or do I want evaluate the quality of my image into detail? In case of the latter, Photoshop CSx is the reference to compare Capture One to. In this respect, CO 4.6.3's viewer finally does the job right when I compare the programs output in CS3/4 with the viewer.

A tip to end: do not save files to your Desktop (Bureau in French) but create shortcuts instead. Why? It slows down your computer logon because Desktop is part of your user profile and it's files are often forgotten when My Documents folder and subfolders are backed up (which does not include Desktop).

i dont think the viewer is an issue, its just the way the sharpening preview has been rendered in capture1.

Attached are 2 more screenshots, this time i viewed the sRGB 100% scale jpeg output in Adobe Photoshop elements 7 (don't have CS)

    Settings:
    Amount: 352
    Radius: 0.9
    Threshold: 0.4

    1. Viewed at 50% - clearly the Capture1 screen looks (over)sharper

    2. viewed at 100% - the sharpness looks the same!
