Capture One 7 vs Capture 8
I just purchased a Phase one DF body, 80mm Schneider lens and P25 back. I can't download C1 8.Pro due to my Mac not having the latest Version of 10.9 I have 10.7.5 My question is : Do I upgrade my Mac to 10.9/10.10 to be able to use the Latest C1Software OR Just download C1 Ver 7 DB which will work for me. I shoot mainly Portraits, Group shots.
I just don't want to go to the hassle of Upgrading my MAC( IMAC ) when I might NOT need all the Latest in C1.

For others it is difficult to assess whether you will benefit from CO8 over CO7 in such a way that it is worth the effort. Money is not the issue here. Both the OS X upgrades and CO DB 8 is free.
For me, OS X 10.7.5 is long overdue. It is a not supported OS and if I would like to stay with CO7 (which I don't), I would upgrade to 10.10.x anyway (unless you have an older Mac which can't be upgraded).
Once on 10.10.x you have direct access to CO8. What does CO8 brings to the table that CO7 doesn't? Fortunately I can answer that precisely without knowing what your business is. You can find it in the links below. Why 4 links? Because new features where released at each point upgrade of CO8 (8.0, 8.1, 8.2 and 8.3 respectively).

 Hi Paul, my main work is Portraits and group portraits. Some weddings and other social events. I am going tomorrow to Apple where they will upgrade my system to 10.10 Will the CO 8 be any benefit to me or juts CO 7 Thanks Dennis 0 -

Hi Dennis, good to hear you are going to OS X 10.10. Now, how about CO8?
CO8 has the reputation to be faster and more stable. Besides that it has so many tweaks and is maturing compared with CO7, that I believe you are going to like it. There is nothing wrong with CO7. It allows you to get the job done. However, I belief that like we evolve as photographers in how we make images, also our tools evolve and we evolve with them (or they with us).
I suggest you give it a spin when you're ready for it. It comes with a 30-day trial and you can install it next to CO7 if you want to be sure (do not overwrite but 'keep both' on installing). Upgrade pricing is attractive, I belief, and maybe more compelling when you have visited an Ambassador's website (in signature below). 😂0 -
Hi Paul, Just Upgraded my IMAC to 10.10 and Installed C1 Pro 8 . Now I am waiting to get my Phase one DF and SK 80mm lens and P25 back. I should have it next week, I am like a little kid waiting to get it. I am shooting 43 years and this is my Gift to me. Thank you for your help, Dennis 0
