C12.1 Lots of problems! Really slow & can't tether
Hi , I have been trying to use C12.1 on a shoot today. I am very annoyed , it was buggy as hell and I could not connect tether my Canon 5D Mk4 , also Capture pilot would not work correctly.
First let me say I thought my first tests of C12.0 were fine, it seemed to respond a lot quicker than C11 , interface worked better , files came in quicker, files processed / outputted extremely quick, and going from image to image was instant.
Now with the C12.1 update , it feels like I've swapped my computer for a 15 year old laptop with 1gb ram!!! WHAT IS GOING ON GUYS ?
I am running it on a 2013 Mac Pro trashcan , 3.5 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon E5, 32 Gb ram , 1 Tb SSD. lots of free space.
OSX 10.14.6
So no problems with my machine 😉
Firstly I CANNOT tether 99 % of the time. however I have just tested without an SD card in camera (5D mk4) and it tethers most times now.
This is the first time in about 6 years we've had this issue (i remember an update of maybe C8-9 that caused tether problems though) So I don't think about taking card out, why should be need to ?
Also I rely on an SD card for when tethering breaks and camera can write files to camera in those instances.
Now Capture pilot on my iPad is not showing the correct files , and some images were squashed short , and some were missing.
Basically I could not see what had just been shot inside the capture folder, I tried all settings on C12 to see if that helped and resetting capture folder destination , but this did not help.
I need this running as I use an iPad pro as monitor beside camera while my mac pro is at back of studio.
Next, even just using the Cap interface on mac is really slow , just cursor to next image takes much longer. As i mentioned to begin with i saw an improvement with C12.0 first release, so this is madness ...
also processing images is now taking 2x at least as C11 .
And whist it is processing a batch , I cannot do anything else , as the spinning rainbow wheel is always active.
I normally set up another batch from another capture folder from session while I am outputting a batch from on folder , and it may slow down slightly . but this is just simply unsuable the cursor and interface grinds to a halt just outputting a few jpgs or tiffs, which my mach should only take 0.5 sec to process files normally, now its taking 3-4 seconds !!
So can you tell me what have you done to C12.1 guys ? this is a disgrace really , as we need to rely on this for professional shoots ...

I'm sorry you're having such problems. But do you know that the members of this forum are just fellow users? If you want to ask Phase One for assistance, or raise your problems with them, you should put in a support case.

Yes I have put a support case in . But I have had Phase staff reply to posts in the past , has that changed?

Sometimes Phase One staff do stop by here and participate in the discussions, but you can't rely on it, and if you want answers to your specific problems a Support case is the way to go.
I do hope you get the issue sorted out.
