Next Capture Counter Resetting On Me
Hi all, recently replaced my old macbook with a new one and have been using C1 11 and was having an issue with the macbook going to sleep on me and shutting off drives/disconnecting camera, which obviously a quick adjustment on some of the Energy Saver options fixed, but the real question I have is about the Next Capture counter in C1.
Seems like whenever the camera was disconnected and then reconnected the counter was resetting which would cause duplicate capture numbers (ex. "180216_PhotoSession_0021 1, 180216_PhotoSession_0022 1, 180216_PhotoSession_0023 1"). Once it does that I see no way to manipulate the setting so that the next one would start wherever it last left off so I'm forced to keep going and sort my photos by date so that in C1 it's all chronological but then when I process photos out of C1 with there original filenames they're all mixed up. I don't prefer to rename them in C1 because I'm afraid it will cause issues with corresponding jpeg previews, sidecar files, etc. (Anyone know if that actually causes any issues like that?).
Is there a setting that I'm not seeing that would allow the Next Capture counter to pick up where it last left off in the event of a camera disconnect? Any info would be appreciated, thanks!!

By default it should pick up where it left off, I've never had the counter reset when the camera disconnected. You could try deleting the preferences and cache folders. Or we can try and figure out what is going on.
Can you share your next capture naming settings?
A screen shot perhaps, or let us know what tokens are in use and which items checked in the drop down menu.Once it does that I see no way to manipulate the setting so that the next one would start wherever it last left off
The "Set Capture Counter..." should let you manually change the counter to whatever number you'd like.I don't prefer to rename them in C1 because I'm afraid it will cause issues with corresponding jpeg previews, sidecar files, etc. (Anyone know if that actually causes any issues like that?).
I'm not exactly sure what you're worried about here. I've never had a problem with previews or anything after batch renaming in Capture.0 -
Oh ok, cool yeah I see where you can set the capture counter now so that's helpful. It is resetting on me, not sure why, it only does it on my Macbook as well, no issues with it on my iMac. I figured it wouldn't do anything between previews-raw files but one very small part of me is always slightly hesitant when I get the warning.
I forgot to mention that another issue I'm having since I've started using C1 11 is that when I import images into a session from a CF card, it brings them into Capture One no longer in chronological order. The import window shows them correctly, I'll have C1 rename the files (i.e. 180316_PhotoSession_0001) with the 4 digit counter but when it brings them in to C1 they're all out of order. So then I have to sort by date and then batch rename, which isn't the end of the world but I'm curious why it's doing this at all. This issue does happen on my iMac, still in C1 11. I've never had it do this to me in the past versions that I've used (10, 9, & 7). I was extra thorough the last time I imported to make sure I didn't have any weird settings but I'll see if I can't do another import soon and grab a screenshot of the import window and maybe see if it is something weird I'm doing on my end.[quote="cdc" wrote:
