Some images found using "Locate" disappear later
This issue was observed using a catalog with referenced images on a local (internal) HDD.
Capture One does not have a facility to rename folders. The suggested workaround is to rename/move the folders in Windows Explorer and then use the "Locate" function in Capture One to tell it where to find the folder and its images.
I have used this technique many times and, although not as convenient, it does appear to work. All the images are visible in Capture One, in the correct folder and are no longer shown as off-line.
However I have observed quite a few occasions, when I have revisited the folder a day or so later, that most of the images that were in the folder are no longer visible in Capture One.
Most often the folder is still visible, but only the first image is displayed in the browser. On a few occasions the folder itself has completely disappeared from Capture One.
Checking in Windows Explorer shows all the image files and the folder still exist on the local disk.
I have confirmed that there are no filters set in Capture One.
Running Verify and Repair on the catalog does not recover the missing images.
The only remedy is to re-import them. There is no warning message to say that the images are duplicates, leading me to assume that Capture One has no record of them.
Of course, re-importing the files means that all the edits I had previously made have been lost.
Has anyone else observed this issue?

Richard,
No never get a warning about duplicates, so your conclusion is not valid.
I have an issue which is simlar but not exactly yours.
After having moved my top folder (Explorer) I observed missing sub folders but the images are there (but offline) in "all images". If I locate them one by one it is fine.
Doing this exercise again results in the same issue, it seems to be the same images again. These have longer sub folder and image file names, however I have not yet identified the pattern behind this.
cheers

Hi BeO,
This is the message I always get if I try to import images that are already in the catalog:

This does not happen when I reimport images that have "disappeared".

Hi Richard,
Didn't see this messeage before (but haven't imported duplicates in v9).
Do you see the images in the collection "ALl images" as I do? I my case the image location in the database was not updated for the respective images, but the thumbnails and previews were visible (offline).
Is there something special with your vanished images which differentiate them from others?
cheers

I haven't checked the "All Images" collection when the problem has occurred - I'll do that the next time I notice it.[quote="BeO" wrote:

I have had it happen with RAWs and JPEGs from a number of different cameras, all of which have plenty of examples that haven't disappeared. The only common factor is that they were relocated using the "Locate" function.
cheers,
