Tethering with mirror lock-up?

    I'll have to give this a try the next time I have the kit set up, but given that a good bit of functionality was added for canon & nikon DSLRs related to shooting in live view recently I'd say there is at least a chance.

    Although if you're curious, you might as well download the CO v8 trial version to double check.

    Of course the simple solution, honestly, is just to use a cable release - and you can get one for about $20 on amazon or ebay if you don't mind getting an off brand. I've had good luck with Opteka (and I like their intervalometer much better than canon's).

    I shoot a D800 so I can't be sure this will work for you. In version 8.3, one can shoot an image while in Live View.
    So simply set up, turn on Live View. Set your focus aperture and your shutter speed and then press the big release button. The camera remains with mirror up and shoots the picture.

    Shooting direct from live view also works for Canon. It was (and is) one of the new features of CO8.
