Totally agree. I'd just like the option to import using existing filename.

While we're about it I'd also like to have a default that the import doesn't automatically create a sub-folder. I tend to start a new session for every shoot so don't need multiple sub-folders within the session

Maybe I'm missing something and it is possible.

Posted a support case yesterday, they're on it, exchanged some messages.
    Waiting for a resolve.

Everyone has its own method, the problem is that Capture One is not letting you have your own default.
    Will keep you informed.

I remember the empty name situation. I think trashing the prefs was the solution. I now have several naming format preferences. I usually grab one, and only have to make small changes to make it work. The naming issue that I find really troubling is where I let C One give each file a unique name as it's being imported. For instance, if I use the "Name+4 digit counter" preset. I have yet to find a way to control, set, or reset the counter. For instance, set up shots are usually not given to the client. I need to make sure that I change the naming convention when we're doing any kind of set up, or have missing numbers in the final output. The other place it's problematic is when there is a crash or force quit. There's no way of telling where the numbering will start when you recover the system. As well, if some files were shot to card, it's difficult to add them to the current session numbering, without re naming everything, or only adding them to the end of the shoot.

I'd love to have a set/reset counter in the capture naming dialog.

I am not behind a computer with CO right now, but I am almost sure this feature is already present. From the Capture Naming tool's title bar, click on the small triangle at the right to open its menu.
