Expression on 2nd monitor

What is the deal with Expression working on a second monitor? This bug has been around since iview 2. I did some tests for the developers back then but it has changed hands a couple time since and the bug still exists.

If I place Expression on a second monitor -- any double clicking of keywords / labels etc do not work. move it over the main monitor and everything works normally.

Does any know of this issue and is there a fix? I have just ignored it for a while.

    I wasn't able to reproduce the double clicking problem, but I'm aware of an issue with colour matching on secondary monitors on Mac. I've developed a workaround for that issue, but I'm waiting for the public release of a new version of a monitor control utility. The developer of this utility has collaborated with me to add features which automate a workaround.

    I watched your video and was surprised. I'd never seen anyone try to select a set by label, keyword, folder, or other item in the Organise panel by double clicking! In iView 2 that was done by a single click. In iView 3 a single click no longer filtered, just selected the line. The way to filter was to single click on the dot (the one that turns green). From the iView 3 manual:

    Filtering by sets and folders


    Filter by a set: Click the dot next to any set or
    container name in the Catalog Index. This displays
    the items of the selected set in the active
    view, hiding all other files in the catalog.
    Filter by folders: Find files by their location on
    your computer or removable disks, by clicking the
    dot next to the appropriate folder name in the
    Catalog Folders section of the Organize Panel. The
    corresponding files will appear in the active view.
    You can also display a group of sets or folders by
    right-clicking (Mac: Option-clicking) each folder or
    set name and selecting Show Media Items from the
    drop-down menu.
    Filtering options: After selecting one field in
    the Organize Panel, hold down the Ctrl key (Mac:
    Cmd key) and click on another dot to show the
    union of both fields in the media viewing area.
    This is the same as using the Find command to
    search for one criteria plus another criteria. For
    additional information on filtering sets and folders
    using a union or intersection of terms, see the
    next page.

    That being said, I did try your double clicking technique on a two monitor setup on 10.5.8 and was unable to reproduce your symptoms. I won't have access to a 10.6.7 machine until Tuesday next week.

    I'll be interested to see if you can single click the dot on both monitors.

    I guess I am slow. I've been using this app for 5 years and have never single clicked the dot. it does work. thanks. however the line highlight doesnt select the row when clicking the dot. minor i guess.

    The double click thing was a known issue -- as I did work with the developers before MS bought it.

    Glad you've now got a workaround. I missed the single click to show contents from iView 2 at first because I could flick through my slide scans a box at a time (one box per folder) simply by clicking the first folder and then using the down-arrow key to move down a box at a time.

    But the power of the Cmd-click to select multiple sets and the ability to selected either union or intersection of sets soon won me over. I almost never use Find now...
