sandisk activation is invalid

i have a sandisk extreme III validation code for Capture One LE. unfortunately, it gives me an "The Activation Key is Invalid" message box. I made sure the key was entered correctly. when i run msinfo32.exe, it tells 'can't collect info' and directly me to see if 'wmimgmt.exe' is running. i have checked this out and find the problem can probably be traced to wmi. however, i am not about to reload the operating system and the computer seems to be running ok. i am able to install and activate everyone else's software.

i have the sandisk code. i tried both the manual and automatic activation, but neither would work. what other alternatives are there for activating your software?

    Hi Michael

    To my best of knowledge, if System Information isn’t able to gather any information, the problem is most likely related to a problem with your operating system, as winmgmt is a vital system service for the WMI, so it sounds like you should team up with a good computer tech or do a reinstall of the operating system.

    Just my 50c hope you can use it.

    Some Invalid Activation cases have been solved by disabling firewall or virus software, however all have been solved with a reinstall of the OS. Since you cannot successfully run msinfo32.exe, it would not be a stretch to say that your system is not running fine, or at least that there are system file issues at hand that may give you further problems.

    Capture One Software aside, I would recommend a new OS install on the basis of system integrity alone.

    i'm afraid you are correct. i was hoping that i didn't need to do a reinstall. will a 'repair' work, or do i need to do a new install including all my data? thanks, mike gold

    The repair is worth a shot, but my guess is you will need a full install.

    I had the same issue. I uninstalled the trial version I had on the system, rebooted, re-downloaded the program and then re-installed. it then activated without complaining and worked fine after that.
