GPS Geocoding for IIQ images
Hello,
does anybody know a way to GPS geocode IIQ files with Capture One or with any other application on Apple mac?
Till now I tried Photo Mechanics, PhotoLinker (Pro), HoudahGeo, Ovolab Geophoto (I do not understand the whole application). I don't want to rename or capture all the pictures as TIFF files, because I want to recognize the type of the image on the extention.
Can anybody help me? Who knows such an application for IIQ files?
Best regards,
Michael

How about this...generate sidecar files with Capture One and use HoudahGeo to geocode those. I just tried it and it works with my CR2 files. 0 -
Good thought. You could do that with Photo Mechanic as well (create side car files). 0 -
Thanks for your answers!
I tried both mentioned apps but without success for my IIQ files of my Phase One P40+. Photo Mechanics would be my favorite but it also don't work with IIQ files. If I rename the IIQ file to TIFF, then it works. But I don't want to change the extention only to work with PM. ... or made I a mistake regards the settings in PM?
The other mentioned program "HoudahGeo" works with my NEF files but not with IIQ files.

Have you contacted Phase One support already on this? 0 -
Till now I haven't contacted Phase One support. But a few minutes before I have opened a support case. Now I will see that they will answer.

Here the answer from the support team:
"There is no way I know of to alter the EXIF GPS DATA on an IIQ file in Capture One., I can not speak for other softwares. It seems like a viable workflow for you would be to use a TIF file."

I still can't help thinking there is a way to do this with sidecar files. For example, what if you output low-res tiffs or jpegs and used them in an application like HoudahGeo to update GPS information on the sidecar files? Would these same sidecar xmp files work with the IIQ images? Maybe I missed it but I didn't see any information in them specifying the image format.

Hello Rick,
I think that would be possible to go via jpg's to create XMP sidecar files with geocodes. But this way is too complex for my normal workflow. Till now I use Lightroom for geocoding my IIQ files but it is also inconvenient to use Lightroom only for geocoding. I have to decide to use only Lightroom for importing, developing, geocoding, printing, archiving or if I will do my workflow with many tools: importing -> ImageIngesterPro, developing->Capture One, geocoding -> Lightroom + plugin, printing -> Photoshop, archiving -> Media Pro (which isn't usable in the current version).
But many thanks for your thoughts!

Using the RAW files in the 'TIF' tag state works just fine in HoudahGeo. 0 -
Hello Drew,
thank you for your support! As I wrote in my first forum message it is also possible to use Photo Mechanics if I rename it to an tif file before. But for me the workflow with renaming to tif, geocoding, renaming it back is too inconvenient. I also wrote a message to the developer of Photo Mechanics and he will investigate in the problem.
It would be great if Media Pro or Capture One can integrate an import for gpx files! Then I don't have to use another program.

Couldn't agree more Michael. At least for the time being we know it's possible with a few extra steps. 0 -
I would also like to see geocoding built in to these applications. As an aerial photographer I have specific wishes and needs for this and hopefully Phase One will be canvassing the aerial photographers in their beta testing inner circle for feedback. 0
