    This is what C1 shows after applying a slight local exposure adj tool, those weird round shapes close at the border of the "red" effecting adjustments area.

    Not Open GL.

    The advantage is that in many situations a lot of the processing can be run through the Graphics Processor rather than the Main CPU and so processing can be faster - if the available GPU offers any performance gain.

    The disadvantage is that if the GPU and its drivers are not entirely performing as expected you may get some unwelcome results.

    If the performance speed difference is important to you it may be worth checking if there is a better driver available for your graphics card. That may mean an update OR a downdate. New drivers are not always better.

    Sometimes precise diagnosis can be difficult in these situations.
