How to copy the hierarchical keywords between picture
Can anybody explain how to copy hierarchical keywords from one picture to another?
I have no problems copying ordinary keywords and annotations between pictures using Metadata Templates but have not find any way to copy hierarchical keywords.

This is not possible, you can drag multiple image onto the lowest hierarchical keyword to apply all keywords above it to all the selected images, but that is all. 0 -
This is really a big problem for me because almost all my files are from Minolta RAW (MRW) and from Olympus RAW (ORF). Both file type is among those which EM2 can't embed metadata, and exporting metadata strips the Hierarchical Keywords. 0 -
That is not strictly true, I said that hierarchical keywords could not be copied. By this I meant that the hierarchical structure could not be maintained when copying to a file, the keywords and all exif and IPTC data are and can be embeded in those files you mentioned using a xmp sidecar file.
You can embed a XMP side car file that contains all the exif and IPTC data (keywords etc) added in EM2 for your ORFS (I use Olympus Cameras) that can be read by CO5 and other programs and past along with the output file. So all the info in EM2 for that raw file(except the caption field) will be present in the outputed jpeg/tiff.
To embed your EM2 data as a xmp sidecar file Highlight/choose the images you want to add xmp to and go to Action > Extract Metadata and choose

And select the folder your images are in. Just be carefull when moving these image files to another location than the XMP files go with them.0 -
Paul, thank you for your support. But as I said in the first post I have no problems copying ordinary keywords and annotations. But I do have a very large structure of hierarchical keywords and it is a pain to reapply those one by one by hand after converting selected Olympus ORFs with Olympus Studio 2.
I have also used LR for about a year - there is no problems with ORFs&hierarchical keywords, but I don't like how it converts ORFs - too much fiddling to get good results. With Studio 2 I get it better results with less work and therefore I like to use it. For other PP I use Lightzone and Picture Window, and I hoped that with EM2 I could live without LR.0 -
I to have lightroom but prefered to use EM2 in conjunction with another raw converter, I'm suprised you have not used CO5 as in my opinion it gives better results with ORF files than Studio or master ever did. 😊 0 -

You are maybe right: I have currently tested CO5.1.1 Pro and I'm very satisfied with the results but Pro version is very expensive and some of the key elements (lens correction, some color handling) seems to missing from ordinary CO5.0 -

Then CO5 (non-Pro) is perhaps a better option to start with. You can always upgrade to Pro later against an additional fee.0
