C1 + 1Ds2: noise reduction settings for maximum quality?
I'm looking for maximum image quality from 1Ds2 raw files rather than speed of processing or convenience, and wondered:
** should I be turning off sharpening in C1 and using later dedicated sharpening actions? i.e. 'disable sharpening' in preferences. (probably Yes?)
** should I switch off Noise Reduction/banding etc in C1 and use none or later Noise reduction software such as Neat Image. (harder to answer)
when I go to the focus tab there is: color noise suppression, banding suppression, and noise suppression sliders, along with a \"camera default\" button - what do people recommend, again for max quality, not speed. If I turn Noise reduction off in preferences is this all invalid?
I'm using version 3.7 SE
and shoot mostly at 100asa.

I am not an expert, but the advice I have hear on these issues are:
Do sharpening as late as possible.
Do noise reduction as early as possible.
Conclusions, if you do other things with the image after C1, don't sharpen in C1; but it might make sense to use the noise reduction since C1 is (obviously) the first thing you do. But I'd make a few tests and see if it might be better to do noise reduction immediately after C1 with a separate app. (I have not done the tests but that is what i do: first C1 with minimal noise reduction and the noise reduction with Noise Ninja. After that, I might do other things in PS.)0
