I have the same thing going on here, I have a Mac Pro with Mountain Lion. When I add picture to a catalog (like 12 000 pictures) it takes like 10 hours and after that I need to force quit the computer and restart to be able to run as usual. And C1 uses up all my memory, I have 10 Gb and C1 uses 8,5 Gb of it. But no processor capacty, that´s good.. But the ram..

Does C1 use allot of grapic card too ? I only have a 512 mb, would it help if I change it to like a 1 Gb?

Btw, love the new features and the support to Nikon. Only thing I am missing is VSCO plugins (http://visualsupply.co) and to be able to use the ALT key when draging the sharpening bars to make the picture black and white, like Lightroom has.

Ya, Seems to get into a state where it just uses 100% of the processors. I had at one point all 8 cores running at 100%, and at one point using over 9Gig of memory. It took about 5 min to quit the program. I am getting crashes left and right, a lot of messages about using pointers after being freed.

I used C1 7 on my 2011 macbook pro 10.6.8 16gb ram ssd drive, and noticed the fan running often and constant. Is this new Capture software more processor intensive?

What system software version are you on?

Maybe, or maybe it is using the graphics processor (OpenCL) more intensive.

    Aha,
good call! I decided to leave it on in preferences to see if there were any conflicts or glitches, and it worked fine. I will try setting it to "never" and see what happens.

    Thanks!

My system is a 2010 iMac with i7, 4 Core, plus 4 Virtual Cores, (Looks like 8 processors), 16 Gig of memory , 10.8.2 (Latest).

Often the processors just peg, This is the first program that I have ever used where all 8 processors were at 100% (800% total). It is locked up at this point, but for fun I left it running, 8 hours later still at 800%, finally had to kill it.
