Pentax K20D and C1 4.1.1

After long quest to find the best raw converter to my taste for K20D (Silkypic - good IQ but strange interface, Lightroom - feature rich, good cataloguing but less than mediocre IQ, Aperture - still dunno what to say about it, just don't feel right to my taste), C1 came out as my choice.

Until two days ago...

Everything was fine until Pentax released firmware update 1.01 for K20D when C1 all of a sudden could not read PEF files (native Pentax RAW format). It can recognize DNG format but only as generic, which is no option for me.

I have no clue about what could be the reason for this. I called Pentax in Hamburg and they have no knowledge of this (I guess not many are using C1?). Lightroom opens PEF's after firmware upgrade with no problem (but I am not keen on opening Lightroom).

Any thoughts on this phenomenon?
