Grid image Position / usb3-ssd difference
Hi guys,
My first topic on the forum. Thanks in advance for reading and replying
1/ When I am in the grid and open an image, when I come back to the grid again, everything starts at the top of the page. Why does not Capture one save that previous image view position?. If you have a lot of pictures, it is a nuisance to scroll down to where you left it on and on.
2/ David advices to have the catalog and the pictures on an internal ssd instead of a usb. I have my pictures ona usb 3 external but I tried what David advices, and my conclusion is that there's hardly any difference between having it on a external usb 3 than on an internal ssd. At least, in my imac 5k late 2015 with an i7 32 gb ram and 2gb video card, a very little difference if any.
Is it worth to buy and external SSD or a thunderbolt?. My opinion is that not for now they are far too expensive. My internal SSD has 500 gb so I can't put the pictures there or I will be without space shortly.

For your question 1), yes it is a little strange but there are situations where knowing where to go back to might be difficult.
For example sort order the display by star rating and change the rating .... where to go back to?
People may have many different opinions if asked.
If you have the browser active and use the left or right arrow keys I would expect that to put you back at the image just after or just before the one you were working on in the viewer. So Left then right arrow should be a quick way to get back to the same image in the browser so long as any filtering in use does not exclude it.
For Q2, I use Windows so cannot really offer an opinion.
Yes an internal SSD is good.
I have 2, one running at SATA 3 and one at SATA 2 maximum speed. In general I see no obvious speed differential working on sessions form either drive. (My file sizes are not often very large - I use older cameras.)
I can also run on an external USB3 drive which is slower but not unusably slower unless it has dropped into low power mode and needs to be "woken up". Not so good if used with a cable over 2 metres long.
An external USB3 drive connected on a USB2 port is slower but, surprisingly, not terrible depending on how the workflow is applied and therefore how much processing you are asking C1 to do.
That's using Windows 7 on a 4 years old notebook (i7 processor) .
I cannot offer any advice specifically for Macs.
