Color Editor not working in C1 Pro

    Sammy,

There is no difference between the trial version and the full version (whichever one you require) other than the need to activate the full version (For Pro versions) after 30 days of trial.

The only way I can get the message you mention to appear is to hover over the tiny paintbrush icon next to the tool name.

It's for information. The tools in the Local Adjustments tab are pre-set to apply to a Layer mask and not to the "background". Or at least that is the theory.

In reality the Colour Editor may be the only one that is so constrained.

Create a layer and add a mask to it and try again is my advice.

If you want to adjust the colour for entire image to to the same tool in the Colour tab.

    HTH.

    Hi Grant,
I tried mask the image under "Local Adjustment" Tab, the Color Editor still doesn't work.
I also created a new session (tether), the Color Editor under "Color" Tab, just didn't work.
Is there anything you would suggest me to look into? I have LR and PS cc, they work normally on my labptop.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thank you, Sammy

I assume you have the trail running as Pro version of Monarch?

For reference, what file type are you editing?

What are you doing to use the Colour Editor and what do you expect to happen as a result?

    Grant,

Sorry I don't know what you mean by "trail running as pro version of Monarch".
I edit portrait files (Nikon NEF). I am a portrait photographer. Looking for a software that is better than Lightroom for my initial editing before sending it to photoshop. I am evaluating Capture One Pro now and very likely to purchase (if I can fix the Color Editor issue).
As my habit, I like to make initial brightness, contrast, color correction, skin tone tuning done on my RAW file before final post processing in PS. That is why Color Editor is important to me. As of now, the "Color Editor" tab (on both "Color and Local Adjustments panel) never expanded on my C1 Pro.
Let me know if you need more info to resolve this problem.

    Thank you, Sammy

Does it have enough space to expand? This can be a problem with system settings like screen scaling and larger font sizes.
You can try it as a floating tool. Menu - 'Window' - 'Create Floating Tool' - 'Color Editor'. Does this work?

As Hans has already noted if the tool does not expand (it has a lot of functionality to display and takes up quite a bit of space to do so) it is likely that for some reason there are simply not enough vertical screen lines available at the time and nothing else that can be automatically closed to make space.

What size is your screen in pixel dimensions?

Are you running it at 100% or with an adjustment to the zoom level as Windows allows? (A point Hans has also made.)

Float the tool and it should work. If necessary you can move tools off the tab or create a new tab on which you add the specific tools you need to use regularly for your portrait processing work.

It's also useful to differentiate between, for example, something like a tool that "does not open", as in this case, and "does not work" which implies that you can see and attempt to use the tool's facilities but it does nothing when you attempt any adjustments.

"Sorry I don't know what you mean by "trail running as pro version of Monarch".

"trail" is a mistype for "trial" of course.

The functionality available, once the tool is open, is different between the Pro and Express for Sony versions and so far as I could tell I had no indication of which mode your had set up for your trial.

    HTH.

Try "F11" key to switch interface to full screen mode. I have the same problem in my hd-ready notebook.
