Disabling Media Reader

I didn't like the Media Reader starting automatically and there wasn't any way to disable it in the application itself so I deleted the key in the \"run\" line in the registry. Other than it not starting automatically, are there any other implications to this? I seem to be able to start it from the Start/Programs/Phase One menu.

  I posted a similar post I don't like it coming up on startup also ... so taking out the key in registry worked for you explain the process to me would you mind

  Yes, in Windows open Regedit (Start/Run/Regedit). Go to:
  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Run
  
  Find the key: "Phase One Media Reader"="C:\\\\PROGRA~1\\\\PHASEO~1\\\\CAPTUR~1\\\\DCIMImp.exe /noscan" and delete it. You can back it up first by exporting the registry key to a .reg file.
  
  Another, probably easier way, would be to run Msconfig.exe and simply uncheck the box that has "Phase One Media Reader"="C:\\\\PROGRA~1\\\\PHASEO~1\\\\CAPTUR~1\\\\DCIMImp.exe /noscan" starting.

  If you are hesitant to edit your registry (most people should be) you can accomplish the same results by letting the CaptureOne uninstall program edit your registry for you. Run uninstall, choose \"custom\". You can choose to uninstall the entire media reader program or just the auto run function. You'll see the same keys as previously mentioned, select the one (or 2) that you want to remove, just be careful not to select anything else - remember, only your selections will be removed when you complete the uninstall.

  I went about it through msconfig and that worked but the way that Mikedukedad gave me I want to do so Thanks you guy's for you help

  Yes, thank you that does disable it, but only until the next reboot. There really ought to be a way to remove it altogether unfortunately.
  
  I ended up using PC Magazine's StartupCop Pro to turn this off.

  I do agree that there should be a way to deselect (or uninstall, if you prefer) the media reader in the program options/configuration.
  
  It is really very poor design to not have that option and force all users to get a, for many, useless program loaded into memory at startup.
  
  This is intrusive program design, pretty much along the lines of a predatory designer like Microsoft, that I would not have expected from a normally sensible company like Phase One.
  
  Hope it will be fixed (= a simple option not to have it run at startup) to the next release.
