Import of Lightroom catalog fails

Hi all,

I'm importing my LR catalog into smaller, year-based catalogs — I know, not ideal, but C1 really can't handle all 60k+ pics in a single catalog.

So I exported my LR catalog as several LR catalogs, then created a C1 catalog per year and imported the corresponding LR catalog. Slow (several hours per catalog), but it seemed to work. Using Lightroom CC 2015.6.1, C1 9.3.0.69. OSX 10.11.6.

After 2 successful imports, it no longer worked. C1 complained it couldn't import the LR catalog: "Unable to read the catalog file". The first time it happened I opened the LR catalog in LR, closed it again and retried the C1 import. That went fine. Odd, but hey, I got what I wanted. Next import: same story: import fails, open and close in LR, re-import goes fine.

Then, C1 complained again on the next one. But now, no matter what I did, it always "failed to read catalog file". Damn.

So, is there anyone out there that has a clue how to solve this issue? Import at full moon? Offer a lamb to the gods of P1? Ot something more practical?
