    I know that the original 1DS could do that. I can't remember if it was a camera setting or not. It may have been a feature of Canon's Remote Capture software that came with early releases of that model. I don't have one around to check out right now. You might try looking through the menus and custom functions.

    this is a function of the Canon software only.

    To answer your question my friend Derek, it's only to make a Backup on the fly.

    It happend to me that one day, I was shooting and my computer crash, and I lost everything... so, if you shoot and record your image both on your computer and your Compact Flash, you are double safe.

    The recording to CF card simultaneous with to the computer is a function in some of the canon cameras.

    I don't remember how to set it and I brifely looked at 1Ds to se how, but did not manage in short time to find the setting that does the trick.
    Please consult a Canon expert on that.

    When you have activated this CF+FireWire option you must then remember that when the CF card is filled up or missing the camera is not able to capture tethered until you insert a non-empty CF card.
