I use Affinity sometimes to do things that can't be easily done in Capture One, such as cloning objects out. Some people who do a lot of portrait work, as I understand it, use Affinity, or Photoshop, for retouching. For instance it is much more practical to paint out some stray hairs using Affinity or Photoshop than it is to get rid of them in Capture One.

Yes. And Affinity Photo is very good and easy (better than Photoshop) at suppressing portrait unwanted details, such as wrinkles or pimples, using frequency separation.

While C1 can do most of what I want, there are some things it just can't do, and that's when I turn to Affinity. Examples:
    - Clone/Heal beyond what C1 can do
    - Combining images (not generally used for portraits): focus stacking, panoramas
    - Adding text other than watermarks

As I've become more proficient with C1 over the years, though, I find less and less need to go to a bitmap editor like PS or Affinity.

Like the previous responses, I use additional software when I need something I can't get from C1. I am a PS user, but like the other responses I use PS as they do Affinity.
