I'm not sure exactly what you mean, but the "Output Naming" tool (under the "Output" tab) does allow "[Image Name]" as a variable which will include the original name.

What you like to have is a variable for the image name as keyword in metadata. This way you'll always have a reference (unless metadata is removed) to the original image name (for referral or retrieve the original) when you change the output file name.

As far as I know this is not currently supported up in CO 6.2.1 (variables in keywords/metadata tool) but a feature request has been raised IIRC. I advise you raise the request anyway, they work with a counter I believe, so the more hits, the more success.

Thanks, I'll try to explain a bit better. I want to rename output for a certain purpose but would like to retain the original file name somewhere in the metadata. Let me provide an example. Let's say I name all my files 110619_001, 110619_002, etc. and I would like to output them one time only as bicycle1, bicycle2, etc. but I want the bicycle names to refer somewhere to the original names.. Hope that makes sense.

Thanks Paul, that is what I want. Sorry to hear it is not implemented. I wonder if there could be a script to add file names to keywords?
