    Regarding the connection issue please see;
    viewtopic.php?f=40&t=12609

It would be interesting to find out more about your system to determine if this is a software issue in Capture One, a change due to the new Canon SDK or a limitation of the newer hardware (as the other post is also the newest generation Canon). Or simply an error with the machine.

In regard to the profile, yes it will be improved in the future. As per the release notes of 6.4.3, the Canon 1Dx is still only in Preliminary support.

I was using an early 2008 Macbook Pro or something.
I'll try again on the 2008 Mac Pro 3,1.

    Thomas and Drew,

I have the same reconnecting issue as what is described here on a MacPro 1,1 quad 2.66GHz.

Same problem here. Mac Pro running 0S 10.6.8. Initial camera connection is fine, but once I turn it off, I cannot reconnect it. Have to restart Capture One, and sometimes even that doesn't work (have to Force Quit, then restart computer). This issue is occurring with both Canon 1Dx and Canon 5D MarkII.

Any further help would be appreciated!

There are a number of threads on this subject already with no known solution offered as of yet. Having to reconnect by quitting C1 and restarting is a problem when you have clients standing around waiting for you. The only saving grace is using an ssd drive. And yes, only Canon is checked in preferences. It seems odd that Phase did not observe this blatantly obvious issue before releasing 6.4.3, because if they did they would have told us.? "Here's an update to tether your new Canon/Nikon, but there is this one little problem". Hmmm.

As I've suggested on other threads, if you are having this issue please create a Support Case and provide a System Profile as well as software Logs.

In a way we did just that, please reference the release notes where we note that tethered support for the Canon 1Dx is "preliminary" 😉

Dale, we are in the same boat here. Any amount of down time is looked at as the end of the world. I also feel as this camera is used more and clients, photogs, etc see it in action the realization that tethering has become more complicated will proliferate and compassion and empathy for the tech will increase. 🙄

Having to quit the program and restart it because of a dropped USB tether connection is nothing compared to the amount of time it take to reconnect with ethernet tethering. The Canon software/firmware kills your network connection if you happen to have a lens contacts error 01, open the CF card door, etc. However, for the time being, ethernet tethering just looks to be a better option for us because the stability of the connection appears to be better. Yes, you inherit some drawbacks with it but in testing it appears to be the better way until some of the kinks can be massaged. This is the trade off of having the shinny new camera as with just about every other technology: early adopter = glutton for punishment. We are where we are and can choose to be part of the solution or sit back and throw stones. Open a support case. I did and have had a few productive back and forth exchanges and feel confident that Phase understands and is working to smooth out the bumps.

I guess what I am asking for is a little more transparency. Please tell us that we need to quit C1 and restart with the Canon 5d II, 1ds III, 1d IV etc. connected, to tether up again. I want to avoid surprises (this one I am sure Phase knew about already), with my clients on commercial shoots.

When there is a fix to this problem please publicize it.

Let's leave canon software out of this discussion since it is a C1 forum. Also, I am not "throwing stones" here, but just voicing my opinion in order to hopefully change things for the better.

    Have a great day!

Yup, as the days go by I'm learning more and more what they mean by preliminary. haha.

Can't even do lens corrections! Wish I had known that before I shot a job with the 16-35 and 24 TSE. CA everywhere.
Only a 1/3rd of them where shot with the 1Ds III so I'll have to do the rest of the CA corrections in photoshop.
