In the mean time, run Pro 10 as trial.

I installed C1 10 last night on my PC, then this morning on my MacBook for some tethered capture. At first it worked fine, but then I had to restart the session and C1 asked me to activate the software, as if I hadn't just done it an hour earlier. This now repeats every time I try to open Capture One after exiting. As it is, I cannot use it. I can revert to v.9, but that also has some problems because v9 can't read v10 files. Please help!

So are you saying that it works on the PC but not the MAC?

There seem to be a few people reporting problems on Macs.

Create a Support Case so that you get direct help and then when you next restart do not try to activate - just run it as a Trial until you get a more complete solution to the problem.

    HTH.

Can I ask, is anyone experiencing this issue actually running the app from the .dmg?

I'm running the app from the finder. Same problem. Every time I start anew, In have to register again. This renders C1P10 unworkable, it's not only annoying but quite keeps me actually from work. Switching back to C1P8 (I skipped 9) is not an option, since there's no backward compatibility.

Please fix this and do it quick !

Why is switching back to V8 not an option?

Open activity monitor and find the app running in the list, select it then use the small cog icon > sample process. Copy paste the top of the resulting (first 20 lines or so) below.

Here are the first lines of the analysis:

Sampling process 582 for 3 seconds with 1 millisecond of run time between samples
    Sampling completed, processing symbols...
Analysis of sampling Capture One 10 (pid 582) every 1 millisecond
    Process: Capture One 10 [582]

    Load Address: 0x10bc98000
    Identifier: com.phaseone.captureone10
    Version: 10.0.0.193 (10.0.0.193)
    Code Type: X86-64
    Parent Process: ??? [1]

    Launch Time: 2016-12-04 07:21:01.914 +0100
    OS Version: Mac OS X 10.12.1 (16B2659)
    Report Version: 7
    Analysis Tool: /usr/bin/sample

BTW: As was mentioned in the neighbouring thread, I first tried to rename the app in the finder - but to no avail.
Could it be a problem with faulty permissions ???

Because there is no backward compatibility. C1P8 can not open catalogues which are made ore were opened with C1P10. Yesterday I restored the old catalogues via Time Machine, so I could save my old workflows at least.

Could you solve the problem ? Any feeback from support ?

The path to the app suggests what I already asked you - if the app has been properly installed, of if you were running if from the .dmg.

The reasons for it can be read here: http://lapcatsoftware.com/articles/app- ... ation.html
Tl;Dr - OSX 10.12 security is preventing the app from accessing services as it isn't installed properly.

Try installation again, making sure the app is properly installed (drag drop it to the Applications folder)and the app is launched from this location (check your dock icon is not pointing to the instance in private/var)

Ok, it took a little while....in other words: the dock icon points to the app in the dmg. Deleting the app and re-installation should solve the problem then.

Edit (10 min later): yes, you were right. Starting the app from the finder retrieved the registration, from the dock it did not. Dragging the app to trash and reinstalling fixed the glitch. THX a lot !

I am having similar problems on my Mac device and have not yet upgraded on my MacBook due to this problem. What a PITA for what should be a simple upgrade. Cannot believe I paid $99 for a mess to happen!
