Multi-camera communication

I am working at a research institution where we need to control two cameras at once, preferably using the same computer. Windows is most definitely not a preferred option. I've already tested and confirmed, in Capture One Pro, that our method of controlling the cameras works when one is connected, but when a second camera is connected the program simply crashes. Is there any way to do this already, or is this simply unfeasible.?
