Change Camera Name in Capture Controls
I am trying to find a way to change the camera name in the C1 9/8 capture controls.
I want to use two cameras and need to be able to change between them from the camera controls.

It would be great if i could have two of the same model camera and name them D810 #1 and D810 #2 or some variation.

That's a ridiculously simple request that should be relatively simple to implement! I'd absolutely love this feature.
I hear voicing your opinion on this forum isn't quite enough though, contact technical support and submit the feedback idea (I will, too). This would be useful.0 -
It's true that putting in a support request is the thing to do. This is just a user-to-user forum.
Unless someone knows a way of doing it already?

#1 & #2 would be great, it would also be nice if you could add custom camera names though.
Great idea!0 -
Would you need to tie the names to a particular camera body for repeated use of just retain them for the current shoot/session?
I would guess you may need to ID by serial number (unless the camera allows for a name to be allocated).
I have found that with different models of Canon the serial number does not always seem to be identified.
Might it be the same for other tetherable cameras?

@SFA Yes, I would prefer if any name assignment persisted based on the camera's serial. I wouldn't complain too mush if i had to reset it for each new session.
Actually the bare minimum would ld be if C1 created a unique name for each camera based on the serial like D810-84738. At least then it would be unique and descriptive.
This actually might be a bug/known limitation since I have had trouble with two Canon 6D bodies tethered since they are both named Canon 6D.
(I post here after doing research to see if one of us has solved the problem already. Now I will push it up the ladder to tech support.)

Cliff,
I have no idea whether this is any use to you or even applicable but I though I would offer it.
My Canon 1D3 has an internal record field called "Owner Name" which, as I recall, can only be set via the Canon Utility program that come with the camera. In fact, having just checked, my 600D (used mainly for manual lenses) has the same.
In the Canon tethering program in C1 this field is editable - just like the Canon Utility allows.
So you can name each camera separately it would seem. (I have no way of checking for 2 simultaneous connections of the same model.)
You can name them permanently to the camera or on the fly as required.
The names are searchable in the Camera Settings tool.
From memory I think you are a solely a Nikon shooter? If so I assume there may be something similar.
If so I think it provides a workable option even if not a 100% solution and has the benefit of being available now.
However as I don't often shoot tethered I will leave it to those who do to consider how well this might work for them - with the caveats mentioned above about availability for different bodies.
HTH.

@SFA
Thanks! I actually use them all. Canon, Nikon and Phase One as the situation dictates. I will def try and edit the Canon field and search for Nikon options like it.
