Deactivate before uninstall reinstall?

I'm having problems with the recent 5.0.1 upgrade in that after installing over version 5.0, I no longer have access to any of the control sliders (all greyed out with no default values displayed. Basically dead in the water. I have created a support ticket. In the interim I'm thinking of uninstalling and reinstalling. However, before doing so, I'm wondering if I should "deactivate" my existing activation before doing so. Or will it recognize that I still have one activation remaining. Thanks in advance.

  Not necessary to deactivate in case. It will recognise the activation after you reinstall the application. Does not hurt however to be full proof. And last but not least you can manage your activation (into deactivation) from the Phase One web site.
