Live preview on MacBook Pro 15" only partly visible
Hi, I've posted this problem earlier, and was then advised to downgrade to 5.1.2, which works fine.
Now I installed the first version of 6 and it seemed to work fine. But yesterday while shooting on location in a museum with the P45+ on a cambo, the live preview started behaving oddly again. About 30 seconds after starting up a live preview window, the lower part of the preview is no longer visible. Very annoying when framing with a TC.
When will this problem finally be addressed. If it works in 5.1.2 why can't it work in 6? A shame really for such expensive hard- and software. Should work flawlessly.

Hi,
This should have been resolved in 6.0.1.
If you find you still have issues please create a support case.0 -
This issue has NOT been resolved in v.6.0.1. I'm not sure if everyone is on the same page at Phase, but I have an open support case going and have been told that the problem is acknowledged, and hopefully will be fixed in the next release. I too am working with v. 5.1.2, and now it is crashing about 5 or 6 times a day on a full day shoot. I use 2 different computers and have the same issue on both. I have to quit and relaunch repeatedly. Very frustrating. 0 -
when you say: "the lower part of the preview is no longer visible" does it mean the live image within the live view window is incomplete (lower part just shows noise). 0 -
Hi TIm,
I/we personally spent some hours troubleshooting the issue with our tethering software Dev after your case was escalated by Drew: a fix was committed for 6.0.1.
Your case has no update since the 10th December a week or so before release of 6.0.1 - we of course want to hear from you if you are still having issues with 6.0.1.
Reading between the lines, the first version of 6 is 6.0 and still had the issue: - 6.0.1 was release on 15th December: you mention both in your forum post but I see no download history for this version on your account so I don't know for sure if you are using it.
Update your case with Drew and clarify the above points and he will assist you.
Merry Christmas.0 -

Same problems here, over and over again.
P45+ on Sinar P2, Mac Pro. all software/firmware up to date.
Yes, a shame.0 -

Merry Christmas.
OK, I'm going to try this new 6.0.1 right now, BRB0 -
James, my apologies, you are correct. The last version I tried was 6.0. I've been busy shooting and didn't receive the usual email announcing the update, so I thought I was up to date. I'll download v6.0.1 today and give it a go. Can I still leave v. 5.1.2 installed on my computer? Do I need to trash all the current Phase One files in my library if I do? Thanks for your help. 0 -
Yup, just rename it in applications to something other than "Capture One" as the new installer will over write the app otherwise.
The update should not be an issue, no trashing of anything should be necessary. As always, check the release notes, and if you have issues of any kind, support case - support case - support case. 😊0 -
OK, I have an interior shoot tomorrow, I'll test the latest version and will report tomorrow evening.

upgrated to 6.0.1, played with the live view for about 15 minutes.
It IS a BIG improvement, knock on wood.
Now I'm a bit sorry for venting my frustration previously. 😕
I'll be back right after finishing the job.
Cheers,

Job finished, LiveView works well, all the problems seem gone.
I have to mention, though, that I've used a very "flat" light, on a light background, very low contrast scene.
Nevermind, previously I've ran into trouble regardless of the set.
Tomorow I have another job, with more rim light/backlight. I'll be back with a report.
But for today I'm pretty happy with the upgrade. An Xmass miracle?
Maybe 😊
Thanks to those Phase One guys.
Good Night,

Yes great, the problems seems to be gone. Had no more trouble today during the shoot, live preview perfect and clear.
Thanks PhaseOne. and merry X-Mas

Today I decided to spend some time testing the Live View in more contrasty lighting conditions.
It stood up very well, even with the light (through the lens) right in the sensor frame.
I have to say that this is the best Live View in all the CO recent history.
You can actually work with it, check the focus, check the composition, adjust the light through it.
If I have to name a drawback, sometimes the Lightness/Quality buttons looks a bit slow/irresponsive.
Maybe someone can put together a list of operations, like a mini manual, at least with the basic operations order.
Anyway, a BIG, BIG improvement.
So a BiG Hand for James and the Dev Team efforts.
Merry Christmas, everybody!

I finally had time to work with v.6.0.1 yesterday after shooting on location the previous week. Live View finally works! At last, I can use it as intended for composition and focus check. And my clients and stylists also love it.
I set up something pretty cool for one of my clients who couldn't be in the studio. Using Ichat, she could remotely view my desktop while sitting in her office 30 miles away. I activated Live View, and she could art direct in real time. Very slick.
Thanks to the Phase One team for improving the Live View function.0
