My Dilema - Importing from Lightroom 4 to C1 6
Hello,
I am hoping that someone has done this, I am sure I am not the first.
I have been a Lightroom user since it first rolled out. I have used it for all my DAM work as well as printing and exporting for clients.
I have been using a Phase One system 645AF - P40+ back for over a year. I have been using C1 DB for all my tethered work and the sessions to Lightroom after making selects. To simplify workflow, I would like to just use C1 DB.
I would like to import all my Lightroom files, RAW and sidecar XMP file into one or multiple C1 DB database.
My Lightroom library's all have a main category like "Food" or "Fashion" and folders under these with each job in it own folder. I did name each job uniquely, this makes moving all the files from each sub folder to the main category easy as no filename conflicts happen. I do this within Lightroom and Mac Finder to assure that all sidecar files go with the RAW files. I moved all theses to a top level folder as C1 DB does not see the sub folders when pointing at the top level one, Lightroom does.
I tried to package them as DNG file and import them into C1 DB, but this did work well as many 1Ds MKIII files were not recognized. I have read about this and think I understand why.
What is the best way to import all my files into one or several sessions/databases? Should I create new session for each of my original categories, like "Food" or "Fashion" and import these with the create EIP option on import? Some of my categories have 2000+ RAW files, so I think new session for each would be best, then group later if needed in albums
Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Two short notes (to get started 😉 )
1 - for DAM, I suggest Media Pro with CO6, not CO6 only
2 - XMP sidecar files are read by CO6 for metadata (IPTC) but not image adjustments0
