Keeping 8.3 when installing 9.01?

Hello,

if I install version 9.01, will version 8.3 (where I am currently on) be kept operational? That is, will the new version replace the old one or install beside it, or is there a switch where I can choose during the installation process?

  V9.01 will be installed in its own folder, separate from V8.3
  
  However, I only have one catalog for all my images and since working on it using V9.01 I can no longer open it using V8.3.4
  
  

  "The Catalog was saved with Capture One 9.0.1.13 Pro Win and cannot be read by this version of Capture One."
