CO ICC profiles ...

I have tried this recently with my Nikon files. I have photographed an "Olive Burst" guitar but CO doesn't capture any of the green in the colour it makes the guitar yellow/brown instead of yellow/olive-green.

I can't find a way to get the accurate colours I need. I used Lightroom in the end with just the Adobe Standard Camera profile and the colours are pretty much spot on. I could shoot it again and use a colour checker to create a calibrated profile in LR but its probably close enough.

I keep hearing how accurate and great the colours are in CO but its not my experience at all. maybe with a Phase One back its good but with my Nikon cameras I think LR is better and you can at least calibrate too when required.

I also have Nikon and default profiles of CO may be too saturated, especially in the green landscape with the D7000.
But "Color Editor" tool to create a ICC profile correcting colors one by one. In order to best optimize my colorimetry, I published an ICC profile for each of my cameras and lenses. Shoot a target and profile calculation with ProfilMaker. The result is perfect, the CO profiles are generic and can be perfect for all cases.
With proper CO profiles is far ahead LR.

Is there any harm to the final outcome in selecting the profile from a completely different manufacturer and model?

I do not see any harm.

Not I say that it is possible to correct all the colors! And that I have to create a profile with a software of calibration (ProfilMaker). 😉
Concerning the use of the profile of another case, I find that damage, each case has its gamut and it is regrétable to deprive itself of the totality of the range of color which its case can reproduce.
