Sorting options button

The "sorting options†button for the thumbnail view of the browser disappeared - but only if I have the browser displayed on the right hand side (which I prefer), with the browser at the bottom it's there. Did I hit a wrong key? Any preference I haven't found yet? How can I make it reappear?

  Broaden the column of the browser and it will appear again. Of course this has a disadvantage re. the size of the preview window
