    Hi,

by your description I didn't understand well what were the taken steps. First, all your correction settings (like exposure correction, saturation, contrast and so on) are image related and as such are stored in files which hold those editing values.

Now adding a watermark is an output (recipe) selection and does not apply to an individual image only but is active as long the reffered output recipe is the active recipe (and as long as under Process Recipe, section Watermark under Kind is selected Text or Image) - with according filling out of the respective Text field for example and selection of a sensible font size as well as scale. A successfull introduction of a watermark is shown then on screen and by further selection of the parametres opacity, scale, horizontal and vertical the watermark can be positioned and in its appearance defined to your liking. If you don't want the watermark simply switch to None under Kind. Alternatively you could define a second output recipe w/o watermark. So getting images with or w/o watermark would be obtained by setting the according output recipe as active recipe.

To give an example, I have one recipe defined for full quality / full size JPG output which doesn't insert watermark. Then I have a second recipe defined for reduced size (Web) output (with 1,800 px on the long side) with 50% compression rate and watermark insertion (copyright mark). So when I want full size output I set the first output recipe as active and then I select the images to process and start processing by hitting the Process symbol (gear wheel in the top right rection of the screen). When I want to create images to post on the Internet then I switch the second recipe to active which will then create images with 1,800 px on the long side, with less KB (higher compressed) and with my watermark inserted (for each image a hit the Process button).

Please take note that none of this actions interfere with the "normal" editing. Hope this helps.

I've never worked with a graphic watermark insertion. But it should work as described for text. It's an option to be selected for the output recipe - and for being executed you need to make sure that this output recipe is the active one before hitting the Process button. I'm not sure though whether this type of watermark is shown on screen as a text watermark is.

As was discussed here on the forum, the graphic file for watermarking, similar to the text font size, needs to have a sensible size for getting the scale parameter work correctly. Perhaps you start a search. It may have been on this forum or on the previous for V8 but the version should not matter because AFAIK there weren't changes to this from V8 to V9.

Again, the insertion of a watermark isn't related to the general edit steps. Perhaps you could start off trying to insert a text watermark to see if and how it works and then you could do the second step to try the same thing with a graphic file insertion. Good luck.

    No problem.

You go to the output toolset - the gear wheel symbol on the left sided toolsets.

There you look under "Process Recipes".

The ticked one is the active one.

If you still don't have defined your personal process recipe(s), I'd say it's time to do so.

Simply go to the end of the upper section to the "+" sign to add a recipe. Best to name it so you remember at once what it is for.

I have defined a total o three ones "JpgFull", "JpgMiddle" and "JpgWeb" - being the JpgWeb the one which adds a watermark.

The next step after creation is definition of the output parameters in the section "Process recipe". There you have the items Basic, File, Adustment, Metadata and Watermark.

    Now speaking of my JpgWeb recipe I have set in Basic: JPG Format / Quality 60% / ICCProfile: sRGB / 300px/in / Scale Long Edge to 1,800 px;

In the File and Adjustment sections no changes from default (which means concerning sharpening that sharpening is done as set in the Details tool subset. Equally no changes in Metadata other than ticked "Include Copyright".

In the Watermark section I've chosen under Kind "Text" (default: None), as text my copyright remark with name and year, Size: Pixels, Font: Arial 72, Opacity 60, Scale 40, Horizontal 45, Vertical 45 (those settings put the copyright to the lower right side of the image).

That's it. Now tick the newly created recipe (to make it your active recipe) and this should make the watermark also show on screen. Then to create an output file according to your edit settings and with watermark all it needs is to hit the Process button.

BTW where these files are written can be controlled by the Output Location item in the Process recipes toolset. select there under Store Files, Choose, and navigate to the desired folder (or create it). Done.
