Help please: 1 computer with 2 disks and 2 catalogs

I am seeking help with a question I can't seem to find an answer to albeit quite some searching in the forums.

This is my one computer/two disc setup and what I'd like to achieve specifically:

- My Capture One Pro 10 *master* catalog is located on a Drobo 5C where I also keep all my RAW files (as referenced images).
- When I take photos, I download them from my camera to my MacBook Pro's internal SSD and import them into my Capture One *edits* catalog (a second referenced images catalog - just for the recent edits - which is on my MacBook).
- After editing the recently imported photos in Capture One (in the *edits* catalog) I would now like to merge the two catalogs, i.e. move my photo edits from the *edits* catalog on my MacBook to the *master* catalog on the Drobo, and also move the RAW files to my Drobo to free space on my MacBook.

I'd appreciate any help with how to merge the two catalogs without losing my edits. Is it as simple as opening the *master* catalog on the Drobo and importing the *edits* catalog on the MacBook Pro? Can I then safely delete the *edits* catalog for a fresh start of my workflow? And how do I then best physically move the RAW files to the Drobo? Do I do that from within Capture One or via the Finder, upon which I'd have to relocate the photos within Capture One?

  Really? So many views but no one has any suggestion? I simply don't want to test a proceeding which may cause disaster and was hoping someone had a similar situation that got solved...

  Hello,
  
  - I usually work with "session" on Location (stored on my local MacBook Pro HDD). I do the whole job there.
  - Once done, I import the job in my "Work" catalog located on my NAS.
  
  That's it. I think, Session are best to work on Job.

  thanks for your reply. I might have to give sessions a try - although that would mean I change my entire workflow 😕 .
  
  In the meantime, I've tested what I had outlined in my original post using test structures and came across two "challenges":
  
  1) When importing a catalog B into catalog A, Capture One obviously assumes the photos remain in their original (referenced) location B. However, as I'm moving photos from my Mac Book (location B) to my Drobo (location A), I have to remember that I "relocate" them from within Capture One or I have quite some extra work afterwards... This isn't ideal but not Capture One's fault.
  
  2) When you apply a style in Capture One, e.g. change an image to B&W, and import it as part of catalog B into catalog A, this edit is imported and reflected in catalog A (you see a B&W photo). So far, so good. However, when you reapply a style after resetting the image in catalog B, e.g. change it back to color, and then reimport it as part of catalog B into catalog A, this last edit doesn't show (you still see a B&W photo). This isn't correct.
  
  Has any of you also encountered something similar and found a fix?

  The core of your problem (IMHO) is trying to make C-1 do it your way. Suggest you view the tutorials concerning Sessions and Catalogs, then decide if you can make the appropriate adjustments of your work flow to fit in nicely with C-1.
  If your concern is security of your images, I think you can cover yourself using a good backup regime rather than trying to bend C-1 out of its comfort zone. Good luck, and start small, test with images that do not really matter. In the long run, you will develop a consistent flow that works for you and hopefully with C-1.
