Crashing session

I find that after a couple days of pretty heavy use (fashion shoot) the session can start crashing the app and it seems that the only solution is to create a new session. This pretty annoying as you end up with a mess of capture-output folders. Anyone tried dup'ing a new session file to the current session and then deleting the crashing session file.
