Import Sub Folders?
I read the help files and did a search here, so please accept my apology if this has been discussed elsewhere.
I may have wasted a lot of time. I had bracketed a bunch of sunset shots for compositing into HDR images, and grouped each series of brackets into subfolders inside my "raw" folder.
I can't find a way to have C1 v 5.2.1 see all the subfolders. I am almost praying that there is a preference somewhere to have the library tab see into subfolders. Is there?
TIA,
Charles

You can add each of the sub folder to your session's favorites. Then they will show up in one place. Not sure whether this is what you want to achieve. Maybe you can elaborate a bit on that. 0 -
Thanks for the quick reply Paul. What I did was place each set of bracketed exposures of the same scene (from 3 to 5 images) in a subfolder. There are maybe 40 sub folders representing 40 different scenes. What I would like to be able to do is have all of the images which are spread out over maybe 40 sub folders show in one develop window so I can apply
same sharpening, saturation, clarity, crop to all at once, and be able to pick one representative exposure from each set of images to process to a single proof folder all at once instead of having to do it 40 different times. I need to do this to present a set of proofs to client. I didn't want the client to have to wade through all 200+ images.0 -
Charles, in your session (maybe you use only the default session, no problem) create an Album. Next, drag all images that apply for the job from each of the sub folders to that Album. Have your client go through that album only.
Note that in CO6 a new feature called Smart Album is available. A Smart Album fills itself automatically with images based on constraints, like rating, date, ISO, color tag and so on. You can for example have each image that is rated 5-stars automatically appear in that Smart Album, from different folders.0 -
Thanks again for your reply Paul. That doesn't seem to do what I need to do at this point.
I have created an album inside the session and tried to drag a folder of raws to it to no avail, and I made the "parent folder" (HORIZONTAL BRACKETED) a favorite in the session, and still nothing shows in the session until I click on one of the "children" subfolders (1228_42.)
I apologize for my inability to express what i want to do, and I'll be the first to admit that I have never come to grips with the whole session idea.
In my v 3 and earlier days I never used sessions, but am trying to be a good C1 citizen nowadays!
Perhaps if I include a screenshot and try one more time I can convey what I need to do:

What I would like to be able to do is have all the raw files that are included in all HORIZONTAL BRACKETED's subfolders show at the same time in the session, whereas as it is now only the files in 1228_42 are showing.
As you can see, a lot of those subfolders have a triangle to the left indicating that I have in turn opened them one at a time inside the session.
What I am looking for is something akin to a photoshop action where you have the choice to "include subfolders."0 -
Charles, you're almost there. Two remarks, one about Favorites, one about Album.
The suggested step regarding Favorites from an earlier post does not apply anymore now I have a better understanding of your purpose (would have been different with CO6 and the Smart Album feature). By the way, the Favorites feature applies to the folder with images only, not to any sub folder. So making your 'parent folder' a Favorite does not help you if this folder only contains sub folders with images but not images itself. The Favorite feature does not propagate itself down to sub folders.
Next, the Album. You can not drag a folder to an Album but you select images in a particular folder and drag those images to the Album. (with CO6's Smart Album feature you would only have to rate or tag the images inside the folder you want in the album to show up there, and it placed automatically into that album and is dynamically updating)
Basically, a session is a placeholder for folders you assign a particular function to, like capture, trash, move to, output. In addition a session can contain favorites, which is a redirection or shortcut to a folder. And finally an album in a session is a shortcut you can redirect images from different folders to.0
