Shooting to hot folder
Hi List
I have been shooting with my Nikon today using wireless shooting via FTP to a folder on my hard drive (MacBook Pro)
I am viewing this folder in v6.2.1 and I have set as "hot folder"
I'm sending JPEG's rather than the NEF files which i'm leaving on the camera's card.
The shots are showing up in Cap 6 but not the most recent shot, I have to manually click on the most recent shot which is a pain. I'm sure that I've had Cap 6 working shooting to a hot folder and the most recent shot automatically pops up, like when shooting tethered.
Any help with this please.
Cheers
Andy

Do you have Auto select new capture selected? Under Camera-tab, just below the Hot folder enabled-option. 0 -
Hi Janne
Yes, sorry I should have added this to my initial notes.
I have it checked as "show immediately" I also tried "when ready" option.
I'm sure I had this set up working perfectly in v5x maybe its an issue with version 6, I don't know how many photographers are using this method of shooting, its a little slower to get the capture on screen but great not to have the trailing cables when on location..
Any other suggestions will be helpful.

Have to check if it's working on my machine, haven't used it for awhile. 0 -
Ok, works fine here but just noticed this was posted on the Dark side. I'm on Window$ 0 -

Well firstly thanks for taking the time to check on your machine.
Interesting, its working on Windows, I need to fire it all up on my Mac Pro at work and see if its just an issue with my MacBook Pro..

Andy,
What Nikon are you using? I don't have an answer, only curious. I shoot w/ a D3s and D700, I don't think my cameras offer that feature ☹️0 -

Capture One Pro, Camera menu, Auto Select New Capture: Never/Immediate/When Ready.0 -
Hi Doug / Paul
Thanks for your replies today.
I use a Nikon D3x with a WT-4 wireless solution shooting via FTP to my Mac hard-drive.
The pictures transfer to my Mac fine but they haven't been showing up in Cap 6.2.1, or to be more clear, they
show up but not automatically as the latest shot does when shooting tethered.
I'm going to try on another machine tomorrow to rule out that variable..
Cheers

Did you find a solution to this Andrew? I am encountering the same problem using Canon and wireless transfer via FTP. The image lands in the destination folder, C1 displays the thumbnail but doesn't then display the image in the Viewer - it stays on whatever was previously selected.
A workaround is to create an Automator script to move the images from the FTP destination folder to a new folder, and to make that new folder the C1 Capture Folder. This works but it means instead of an image displaying on the monitor 3 seconds are the shutter is pressed, it takes from 7 to ten seconds to get there.
Given it doesn't seem to be a problem for the Windows version, I am guessing it's a bug. I've tried two different machines and both OS X Lion and Snow Leopard also.0 -
you could try this app just choose the hot folder and the app will change focus between itself and C1 forcing C1 to reload the folder. To quit HotFolder press apple + tab and the command + Q.

I just found this thread and it seems that I have the exact same problem...I posted a few days ago under new topic... I does seem to be a bug in at least the Mac version.... I'm on Mac OS 10.7.3 and it will not auto advance to the newest capture....either when tethered or via wireless using eye fi and a hot folder....
How do we get this reported and ideally fixed asap?? thanks!
UPDATE/CORRECTION: It DOES work directly tethered but it DOES NOT when using hot folder (via eye fi) any clue why???0
