Hardware Acceleration - Activities Box
I just installed Capture One Pro 10.1 64 bit.
Is anyone seeing this box? It says "Setting up hardware acceleration: 0% - about 0 seconds left". If I click the X the box goes away, but the activity spinner still runs. Is there a way to stop this activity?

Have a look at the release notes for an explanation.

Hi,
I left mine running for an hour and a half and it is still spinning. I am going to turn off hardware acceleration to get my work done.
Is this a bug?0 -
Worked fine here. 0 -
Here is something tangible. I tried to do a batch export with multiple files. Even though it says "Capture One is using hardware acceleration" in the preferences view, the activity box shows "0.00 seconds, 0% and setting up hardware acceleration". The batch que populates but nothing happens. It just sits there spinning.
This only happened since the update to 10.1. Any Ideas?0 -
I have exactly the same issue. Capture one 10.x gets stuck at setting up hardware acceleration. Using scripts provided by PhaseOne (useopencl.zip package) does not help. I waited for an hour for the wheel to stop spinning, but did not help. Closing and restarting Capture One does not help. Starting processing is does not work, the files appear in the queue, but no processing is done.
I kept Capture One 9 installed, it works properly. But cannot open new catalogs, converted to Capture One 10.
Best regards,

You could download & install 10.0.2 from the software archive @phaseone.com0 -
I've had problems on 2 occasions with different iterations of C1 v 10 on Win7 64. The activity was similar to what you report.
The first occasion (as i recall on v 10.0.1), I tried several things, including removing and reinstalling, upgrading video drivers, and turning off hardware acceleration, and changing several OS settings. I ended up removing that version and installing the original v10.
I continued to test, and found there was a conflict with Google's Chrome browser. I (manually) upgraded the browser (performed by selecting "about" in the Chrome settings) and C1 performed without problems. I had similar behavior on installation of c1 v 10.1 (most recent version), the circular icon continues to spin. I immediately checked Chrome, and it updated. Problem solved for me.
If your video drivers are up to date, and you use Chrome, make sure that program is current.

Hmm, my computer is quite old and just over the edge of minimum system requirements, so I noticed straight away that with 10.1 I can't watch a Youtube video on up-to-date Chrome (even at 480p) at the same time.
Reverted to 10.0.2 and I can watch 1080p simultaneously.
Also, 10.1 was showing "Hardware acceleration not working", while on 10.0.2 that does not happen.0 -

Also, 10.1 was showing "Hardware acceleration not working", while on 10.0.2 that does not happen.
That does not mean that the Hardware Acceleration is working on the older version. It's just not telling you on screen - the on-screen information being the new feature included in 10.1.
For my not very powerful GPU I can see it working in Using V9 but my tests of V10.0.1 suggested it was not.
As yet I have not had time to look at V10.1.
I don't use the Chrome browser on Windows - I see enough of it on my Android phone. Does it use the GPU? Do you have a GPU card that would provide enough power to make it useful?

Hmm... my nVidia drives are new and I do not use Chrome (not installed). Strangely enough the issue occures also when CP has OpenCL set to "never" for both display and process (if it's proper name, cannot check right now). And it is sporadically there. For example yesterday everything worked properly, but on saturday I couldn't process images at all.
And CP 9.x works without issues.
I reported it to Phase One support.

You're right. I rolled back to 10.0.2 and have no GPU load at all when using CO. (I have a Geforce 9800GT 😂 )0 -
Just for information: for me it seems, that GPU-Z (to check if GPU is used in CP1) somehow caused this issue. I did not use this software for last two days during CP1 usage and did not have any issue since then. 0 -

Damn!
I just upgraded to a GTX 580 and installed 10.1.1
It seemed to work, then I opened GPU-Z to check gpu load and it went bananas!
Must be a double slit type of bug.0 -
Hi. I have the same problems described above. Did try all. New graphics driver, instaled 10.0.0.23, 10.0.1, 10.0.2. Always the same problem. Updated uninstaled Chrome, Disabled hardware acceleration. Works on 9.x and did work on 10.0.x but stoped working and I'm unable to transfer settings to 9.x.
Is there any known solution or has anybody idea what to try next?

What are you using as your current Windows version? Also the version of .NET?0 -
I'm using Win 7 with .NET 4.6.2 running.
I've just upgraded to 4.7 to no avail.
Edit all variants is also selected.
I'm almost sure when I first tried v10 processing went trough just fine. Is there any possibility I used spome function to block it?0 -
Are you specifically saying you cannot process any images at all? Or that you cannot process them with hardware acceleration?
I don't see any wondows pop up to tell me there is an assessment of my (for old and low powered) GPU and most of the owrk is undertaken by the CPU. But my widget GP monitor does seem to suggest that some activity is being sent through it though the way the information presents is very different to V9.
This is running C1 10.1.
With 10.0 there seemed to be nothing significant happening at all.

Hi,
CO 10.1.1 Causes Bluescreen on my Machine, so i went back to 10.1.
So, back to Topic.
Little workaround for HW-Acceleration.
Start Capture One --> Disable HW-Acceleration --> Close Capture One --> Got To C:\Programm Data\Phase One
--> Erase All Folders (Don't delete License).
Start Capture One ---> Don't Enable HW-Acceleration until it's Setup is Finished.
1hr before i exported 638 Images (Wedding) with 4 Layers on every image in 16 Min. 2x FirePro W8100.
RAM goes up to 99% (of 32 gb) CPU also to 100% up to image 350 or so then went down to 87%.
Kindest Regards

@SFA Yes, I cannot process any images at all. I've looked at last developed pictures, and I've processed them with 10.0.2 without any problem.
@Tom-D I've done that already to no avail.
I've deinstalled all C1 versions, deleted all folders in Program Files, Users\All User, Users MyUsername. Deleted all Phase one stuff from registry. Did clean instal. Nothing.
All v10 act the same and v9.3 work as a charm. Problem is I edited a laaarge amount in v10 which I'm unable to process in v10 and unable to open in v9.3 with corrections made to pictures!
I'm really frustrated at the moment.
Any help or idea is really appreciated. Thanks.0 -

So are you saying C1 10.0.2 works but not 10.1?
Or that only V9 works?
I have not had any problems with 10.1 processing during testing.
I'm running Windows 7.
If the process does not run at all does it produce an error message?
Have you checked the log files?
This sound more and more like something completely different to the problem you think you have.
For example if you disable Hardware acceleration in the preferences and still nothing happens after closing and restarting C1 then it's not a hardware acceleration issue at all.
Is the specified output location actually accessible?
Grant0 -
I'm saying 10.0.2 worked just fine until a week or two ago. Then it stared to open message box with Hardware acceleration msg and the status bar stayed on 0% forever. The processing part never started and also status of that box stayed on 0%.
Then I did all the changes I could possible remember and found here on forum.
Later I installed v9.3 which now works and I'm curently editin the whole batch once again.
Yes I did disable hardware acceleration but the problem remains. But why I keeo geting HW acceleration message?
I've must of done somethig wrong but I don't have a clue.0 -
The Hardware Acceleration checking is not something new, C1 has done it since OpenCL support was added as far as I know. (So the log files tell me.)
The difference now is that it has been made visible to the use when the checking program is deployed. The state reason for that is that sometime is can take several minutes apparently. So it's good for people to know why things seem to be slow starting up.
Whether some other work was undertaken on the code at the same time has not been stated. There will often be something that needs to be done - in the case of Windows usually because Microsoft or some other intermediate code supplier has change something.
Realistically I think you would be best taking this up with Technical Support. They should be able to interpret the log files and provide some suggestions.
HTH.

Yesterday it happened again, although I did not start GPU-Z and I did not have this issue for some time. So now it seems, it happens sporadicaly, sometimes more often and you never know when it "hits" you. At least in my case.
There is a KB1720 issue, where a script is provided, which disables OpenCl completely. I cannot tell exactly, but sometimes it helps 😉 I have a feeling, that disabling OpenCL in CP10.x software is not working properly and it is better to close CP and use the script (registry entry modification). I think, that although I disabled in in CP itself I still have got the window with "enabling hw acceleration". But maybe I am wrong, as it was some time ago.
https://www.phaseone.com/en/Search/Arti ... cleid=1720
No issues with v9.3 though.
