Chrono Sync and Capture one

I use a very very simple session structure with 15 M interval chrono sync. I think the possible 15 M's loss is acceptable for my shooting environment even though I will need to apology for it to the team. I'm trying to make everything very simple and clear to avoid any possible issues when shooting...So… my experience is not enough to answer your question.
I'm using "backup" with both sync deletion and archive the replaced checked.
I'm using separate capture only SSD and chronoBU only SSD. I think using both SSD is important for the smooth backup….

Chronosync does have a few different relevant writeups about what each function does: and

In this context, the difference between "mirror" and "backup" is pretty minimal. I use Backup because it's a bit faster to scan and transfer data than it is to just blindly transfer data.

That said, my setup is as follows:

    -Backup Left-to-right
    -Synchronize Deletions
    -Archive replaced files
-Enable "Don't create empty folders" from the options menu > special file/folder handling

The last one is especially important if you use multiple capture locations during a shoot (eg. one folder per shot/setup) because if you set up the folders ahead of time, and then rename them, you'll get a dozen duplicate (and empty) copies of the incorrectly named folder.

At the end of the shoot, before handing over delivery drives I triple check drive contents match and are actually correct. Then and only then I go in and delete the _Archived Items folder from the target backup drive to avoid any confusion for the client.

On a shoot NEVER use bi-directional sync mode, and always use "archive replaced files" if you opt to "synchronize deletions" otherwise you're setting yourself up for accidental data loss without a doubt.

    Hello,

I shoot fashion catalogue. We shoot to C1, into shot folders that are uniquely numbered. We shoot 50 shots (or looks) a day and sometimes more. We use Chrono Sync to back up to a server throughout the shoot. My question is: Is it best to sync "mirrored" left to right, or "Back up" left to right. Keep in mind that A). We are syncing after every 2 or 3 shots (by shot I mean look; there are probably 15 - 20 captures taken for each look), and B) we often have to move shots from one folder to another - and rename according to the new folder - throughout the day because of human error in setting the right capture folder with the right look. So we might be syncing and syncing and then have to move shots from a folder that was already part of a previous sync to a different folder, which then becomes part of the next sync. Hope that makes sense. Anyway, I'm thinking what's best is to do "back up" chrono syncs with "synchronize deletions" checked.

Would that be best? Any thoughts?

    Thanks!

I've worked in this situation before. It's best to use Mirror with Synchronize deletions and Archive replaced files checked. Mirror appeared to work much better over a network during my testing.

I had a team of 15 working daily using this process and it worked without fail. Using this system can result in a large chronosync "_archived folder" of all your changes and modifications. But if you make a mistake all your changes will be in this folder, nothing is deleted.

We also did a local backup simultaneously using the same method.
