Panasonic LX100 ii
Are many C 1 Pro users using this high-end compact as their 'go everywhere' camera alongside their main outfit (Fuji X in my case)? I am sort of hoping that there will be raw support for it in C1 soon.
I have raised a support ticket asking for raw support.

I would like that as well but Phaseone's support for "lesser cameras" is not unexpectedly not so hot. However, as you say, many people have such cameras as backup or "in the family" and you still have to use something like LR to convert the raw files. Counterproductive for Phaseone as it invites the "might as well just use LR for everything" 0 -
Every RAW-converter has this problem: Disunity in raw format forces everyone to constantly work on yet another camera, and that is a drag on man power which would be spend better on image processing or resource management functionality.
A radical idea: Sometimes I think that since we have code forcing for example to use the same power receptacles nationwide, why not to make a consumer protecting law requesting that every camera shall support a standard RAW format, be it DNG, be it something else. Without it, every product such as C1 has to constantly deal with hundreds of modules for hundreds of camera models.0 -
While a standard raw sounds a good idea from a consumer point of view. Such regulation is probably not even on the 'nice to do' list of most political systems, way below 'must', 'should' and 'my/our vanity projects'!
The other problem is that regulation prevents innovation. Consider mains power plugs, in the UK iit is very bulky by modern standards and would no doubt be a lot slimmer if it was not a regulatory standard.
I am, rather hoping that the LX100 ii will be supported in version 12.1 which, I hope, is due soon.0 -

Yes, just have to be patient. I guess Phaseone see supporting less popular cameras cameras as an expense and a chore. They really need to see it as a valuable marketing expense. All their marketing expenditure is negated if they don't support the cameras you use, so the money is wasted. Perhaps they need to get a couple of interns who could work on filling in their camera support "holes" and also get rid of the backlog.
The company approach should be "if it shoots raw, we support it". Anything else is short sighted or a bean counters idea of how to run a company. Some of these issues probably arise because most of the company are saying "we manufacture cameras, not software", always a business problem when a company diversifies and doesn't really commit to the project.
