Moving RAW files from one CO 7 catalog to another catalog?
I did search for this and look through the manual, but cannot find an answer. Must be my drinking.... 😄
I photograph for several genres of commercial/advertising photographs, and have created a catalog for each.
I have created single CO 7 catalogs from my older CO 6 sessions. I would like to move edited RAW files from these aggregated sessions that are now in one CO 7 catalog to these separate genre catalogs.
I do not store the images in the catalogs, but reference them since they are on multiple drives.
I would like to drag images from one catalog to another but that does not seem to work. Any way to do this?
On another note, would it be better to store images in the catalog? Is there a consensus on this? I use CO 7 exclusively since the majority of my image are produced with Phase One kits.

There is currently no Move-between-catalogs command or feature.
The workflow for a move between catalogs with images stored inside the originating catalog, is:
1. Export > Originals including adjustments
2. Import in new catalog
3. Remove from originating catalog
4. Remove images from Export folder
You can do the same for a catalog with images stored outside (referenced), however this may be more complicating as the location you import from is stored inside the catalog. You do not want the new catalog to reference the Export folder but the original folder on your external drive(s).

Paul,
Thank you for this information.
I will follow your workflow of Exporting the originals including adjustments to separate "genre" folders on my desktop. Next I will import these file into the correct catalog for these images with their adjustments, and store all of this in the catalog to avoid the "nasty" files all over the place scenario.
I have been apprehensive of storing the files and their adjust in the catalogs, as I do not know if I can retrive them if the catalog somehow can not be read by CO 7+.
Do you have insight into how easy it is, or if is possible to bring back a catalog from the dead?0 -
Regarding your import of sessions from previous CO version, we have some coming up very soon. Stay tuned on our website.
EDIT: With 7.1 launched, we now have a session importer. Fetch it from the website. It imports sessions from CO v4 to (and including) v7.

Christian,
Perfect! I had not started the transfer from one catalog to another, so this new feature will help me save a lot of time since I am referencing the files from older CO 6 sessions.
I am downloading 7.1 now.
Thank you!0
