Thank's a lot Jim, i was desperate.
As you belong to the company let me specify the bugs i experience:
- external monitor run: very slow and unstable
- horizon tool: i click on it and it creates a crop mask (????)
- cropping tool: i click it and it creates a mask automatically (very time consuming)
- masking tool: it allways wasn't the fastest but since 7.2.3 horrible
- lens correction tool / distortion: i use it, the program crashes
Since a long time i'm a big fan of C1 telling everybody to leave LR, but this time your programmers realy did a poor job.
PLEASE TELL THEM TO OVERLOOK 7.2.3
Best regards, Dominic0 -
Is it normal for it to ask for serial key with each update? I entered it but got this message
Could not query because no data was received from the server.
I have a valid license code0 -
I too have reverted back to 7.2.2 -
7.2.3 is impossible to work with - very unstable to the point of crashing every time I tried to open the program.
This release doesn't seem to have been tested?0 -

Well that's clearly not the case.
We're finding that some of the changes we've made for the OpenCL, to accommodate Apples changes for newer OS's, are conflicting with older cards. So, turning OpenCL off solves a majority of the conflicts.0 -
Thanks Drew,
Sorry for being a duntszx - how do i turn off open CL?0 -
Preferences/General/Hardware Acceleration, from there you can turn off Open CL for display and/or processing 0 -
I have the latest Macbook Pro and C1 version 7.2.3 crashed regularly, the fan ran like crazy and the battery drained rapidly, very unreliable.
I switched back to version 7.2.2 and everything works fine again.0 -
I have a MacBook Pro retina mid 2012, 16 GB, Mavericks 10.9.4, Capture One 7.2.3 handling reference catalog, Open CL fully enabled: no crash, no other instability or overheating problem whatsoever. There should be something specific to your system configuration or to my system configuration. 0 -
sorry for the stupid question: how can i cam back to 7.2.2 version? Simply reinstalling.... 0 -
I also encounter a bug when I try to import new photo's into an existing catalogue. C1 Pro crashes, I forwarded several crash log. I'm referring to version 7.2.3. This is bad because the existing catalogue contains numerous edit which are not transferable.
I also tried to import an existing catalogue (same as aforementioned) into new catalogue, but I can not select one. Catalogues are out-greyed.
BTW: the verify catalogue function of C1 indicates that all catalogues are valid and sound.
I hope that a new C1 versions follows very soon!0 -
Anyone have any idea why I might not be able to update to 7.2.3? It asks for activation and tells to try again later because no info coming from server 0 -
Macbook Pro 17" early 2009
7.2.3 yields a crash report with access violation on every startup.
Was told by Phase One Support ( who are still looking into ) :
Disable OpenCL - has no effect.
Delete directory "Users/Shared/Capture One/imagecore" - also had no effect.
Obviously, the program is tested before its release, but also obvious is the lack of thorough regression testing of new software releases and possible issues with older hardware products. If there are incompatibilities, that is fine, but we need to know before we load the new software. Not finding out until afterwards is effectively doing all the regression testing ourselves.0 -
Alternatively given the enormity of the task you propose when deployed across two platforms, make the release available with a "Try it at your own risk if your systems are older than ......" and allow (enable?) people to report back which systems work successfully and which don't.
Effectively a form of wide area beta testing but given so many possible configurations out in the wild fore both Mac and Windows you have to go with a release at some point.
A quick reversion to the prior installation would be useful for those who find problems.
Of course there is no certainty that a representative group of users with a wide range of machine specs will self select ti undertake the tests - they may feel they do not have enough time.
Moreover, speaking as a tester and beta tester with a few decades of experience one way or another (though not with photo editing software or Apple products) it is extremely difficult to hit a 100% OK outcome. Or even 90% in some cases, especially if you are reliant, as most developers are, on outside suppliers for core software components.

I have the same MBP and of course the same Errors 😄
But now - i found how do you can resolve it. Phase One has a simple App "ToggleOpenCL.app" you can download and run it. It disables completely OpenCL and it works for me.
Hope it helps you too.0 -

THANK YOU!!! I had actually tried this before, but I left when it said OpenCL was already disabled. Turns out I needed to run it twice, Once to re-enable then Once to disable and it proved to work... Thanks again!!!0 -

Keep in mind you are turning of Open CL on a system wide basis so you will lose well implemented open CL on other software that was running just fine with Open CL.0 -

This is absolutely incorrect! It adjusts the preferences file for Capture One, nothing else.0 -
Wan said your "completely turning off open CL."
So Open CL still remains active on the system but is just not used by Capture One.
So the app does not fix anything it just shuts down open CL acceleration and slows things down.
If open CL is working what functions are accelerated and by how much?
Here is a graphic from Phase One:
http://phaseoneimageprofessor.files.wordpress.com/2013/06/benchmark.jpg
It looks like not being able to use open CL results in a huge loss of speed.0 -
Updated yesterday and now I can't import images without crashing. So back to previous version. 0 -

As a percentage.
What does that mean in real time?
And then the answer very much depends on what people expect/need from their system.
If one is processing several thousand images against a publishing target time it might make a difference.
If processing a fine art image that takes several days of interaction to develop ... maybe not that much of a benefit to save a second or less here and there.

if your working with Imac 27" middle 2011 16 Mb RAM
you can make Capture One pro 7.2.3 working great stably by doing the following thinks.
1. deactivate all the Cameras in the c1. setting .> providers, that you don't really use, i use only Nikon for example
don't set booth Cameras Nikon and Canon " this reduce the C1 Speed and make conflict
2. deactivate the automatic lens Corrections .
...
5. close C1 and erase the date ICOCL.bin under :/Users/Shared/Capture One/ImageCore its OK if you don't find it !
6. Restart and make PRAM Setup with your Imac
7. Open C1 and let the Program regenerating the Preview " Just Wait "
After i don this i found that my C1 really working better, if you still getting problem just return your terminal in point 3 and restart again
i am using know about 8000 Pictures in one Catalog and getting good Work with C1.0 -
I did as suggested by NN635395930471775600UL, it does speed things up (especially if in preferences you enable OpenCL 😄 ) but I note that my console log still shows that I am getting the same Image Core Process crash every time I start. But it doesn't seem to affect anything.
This console message, followed by a crash log.2014-07-23 10:59:07.318 PM Capture One[422]: Failed to set -rw-rw-rw permission of /Users/Shared/Capture One/ImageCore/ICOCL.bin : Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=4 "The file “ICOCL.bin†doesn’t exist." UserInfo=0x608000662640 {NSFilePath=/Users/Shared/Capture One/ImageCore/ICOCL.bin, NSUnderlyingError=0x608000a4d620 "The operation couldn’t be completed. No such file or directory"}
I have also tried changing the permissions to group:staff on /Capture One/ImageCore - doesn't change any behavior. I wonder if the problem is more that “ICOCL.bin†is missing, rather than a permissions problem.0 -
Just purchased this yesterday after weeks or reviewing different options. So my first use is 7.2.3, talking about a bad 1st impression. I can't even import images to my newly created catalog. The simplest tasks crash the program. I'm going to try going back to 7.2.2.
As others have said - how did this get released? No beta? Pull it from the update channel until things are fixed. I'm sure more & more people are looking at this software with Aperture on the way out. Make it a nice transition.

Hi Pat
I had a good success downloading the trial 7.22 version first, activating, and then the 7.23 upgrade.
But which OS version are you using, how much RAM, which processor and and which kind of image files?0 -

Pat, I'd suggest you create a support case and allow us to help you. As noted previously, the software is working just fine for 99% of our users but some people, with some system issues we'd be happy to help address, are having some conflicts with 7.2.3 on 10.9.4. Create a support case and we'd be happy to help.0 -
The only issue I have found after upgrading to 7.2.3 is that right-clicking the C1 icon in the dock and choosing quit does nothing. I have to choose Capture One->Quit, from the menu bar to close the app. Other than that it runs fine, using sessions only, on my late 2010 27" iMac. 0 -
I knew I shouldn't have installed 7.2.3. Same thing here- now COP7 won't even open. I just get the spinning beach ball forever and I have to force quit. My gut instinct told me not to install this version until I checked the forums to make sure it was working, but did I listen? No. Now I can't even get it to open even when I trash 7.2.3 and reinstall 7.2.2. Won't open now at all. Looks like I'm back to tech support and endless troubleshooting for the next few weeks.
Lesson to all: NEVER EVER install updates until checking the forums for issues first.
Platform: MacBook Pro, OS 10.9.4.0 -

If no one installs the update how can there be any issues reported on the forum?? Think before you post 😊0 -
Because someone always does, then posts the bugs- just like I did. Think before you condemn someone for not thinking. 😉 0
